Explaining herself to Elio was something that Olivia never wanted to do again. It was hard to pretend like what happened between herself and Sawyer had just been a disagreement over Quidditch that turned volatile because of their hatred for each other, but she honestly didn't know how she was supposed to be honest with him. How could she explain that the only reason she said yes to him was because she saw an opportunity to move on? Liv hated herself, but she didn't know what else she was supposed to do. She didn't know how she was going to move on, but she had to at least give it a shot. If she truly can't get over Sawyer then she guessed she would just have to wait for something she wasn't even sure was going to happen. She hated the position she put herself in.
Practice was no longer fun. Sawyer was back to ignoring her and she hated every second of it. It wasn't like she was paying him much mind, either, but being around him hurt. Knowing he was upset with her was even worse. The Monday following her date with Elio started the week leading to the full moon. Olivia drank her Wolfsbane that morning before she left for her training, keeping her routine to ensure she doesn't miss a dose. It was rough going down and Liv had to lean against her countertops to settle her stomach before she puked it all back up. She hated this week almost as much as she hated transforming. Her skin was paler and lacked its usual luster, her hair dull, dry, and not nearly as voluminous as it was just the other day. Dark circles and bags plagued her under eyes and her dark eyes were so dark they were nearly black. When she felt like she could move without chucking up her potion, Liv gathered her stuff and Apparated to the stadium.
One of the ways she has been distracting herself from everything was rigorous training. Even though she felt drained and sickly, she pushed through and worked her hardest through her workouts. Her body was sore and her mind still would not let go of Sawyer, but she continued until the rest of the team showed up ready to practice. Olivia chugged her water before getting out on the pitch and throwing her all into it. As the hours started to pass by, Liv started to feel more and more sick, her stomach churning as thoughts of Sawyer consumed her and the stress her body was put under started to affect her. When she felt it gurgle and could taste the contents of her stomach start to creep up her esophagus, Olivia whistled and signaled a time out before leaning forward on her broom and soaring straight for the locker rooms. Before her feet had even touched the ground, Liv was hopping off her broom, letting it clatter to the ground as she ran inside.

His feelings for Olivia were no longer an issue at work. He ignored them and her, pretending that they didn't exist, that they didn't have two fantastic nights together, that she hadn't altered his entire world. The Friday of her date, he didn't pass her the quaffle at all, making Jack stay on his toes the entire time, which the older player needed. That night, knowing that she was out with Elio, Sawyer went out and ran into Marla. She wasn't nearly as electric as Olivia, but she was a decent distraction for the evening until he was drunk enough to pass out by himself in bed.
Sawyer might have been ignoring her, but he continued to steal glances at her. Seeing as the particular day was approaching on the calendar. She wasn't as vibrant or radiating. The luscious shine was gone from her raven black hair. The circles under her eyes were so dark that it looked like she had black eyes. The sclera of her eyes were off-colored, more gray than white. She always carried herself proud and tall. Now her shoulders were slumped and looked tired.
She wasn't on her game today. Her reactions were sluggish, even though he could tell she was pushing herself. Sawyer was about to score on Jack when there was a whistle, call for a timeout. The quaffle soared through the goalpost as he turned to see Olivia fly to the ground, discarding her broom on the grass, running into the locker room. He didn't hesitate to take off flying after her, despite him ignoring her existence over the last week.
He walked into the locker room, hearing the distinct sounds of stomach contents emptying into the toilet. His stomach rolled at the sound. "Olivia," he called out, walking to the closed stall door.

She didn't know if she should be grateful it was Sawyer who came after her or not. He was part of the reason she was in here, but she couldn't stop her heart from beating faster at the sound of his voice. Olivia retched one more time before she wiped her mouth and leaned her head back against the side of the stall. "In here," she said with a raspy voice, her Italian accent a lot thicker than it normally was. She was completely lacking the energy to control it. Pushing the stall door open she looked up at Sawyer. "I must have worked myself too hard," she explained before closing her eyes, her body swaying a little as another wave of nausea washed over her.

His stomach twisted again at the sound of the retching, but relaxed when she answered him. Her accent was thicker than he had ever heard it, hearing the Italian for the first time. She sounded tired. The bathroom door opened, showing her resting her head against the metal wall as she claimed that she must have worked too hard. Sawyer leaned against the door, looking down at her, noticing the stray hairs sprawled all over. Staring at her with kind eyes, he replied, "We both know what is coming this week, Olivia," meaning the full moon. He had never cared before what she had looked like or how she fared around the full moon. It was after the Lycamp visit that he finally started to notice, putting the pieces together, caring.

His eyes were looking at her softly and she could feel herself turn to liquid, willing herself to keep her form. A heavy sigh fell out of her at his statement and she brought her head forward, tilting it slightly as the movement made her head spin. "Ugh, yeah," she groaned. "Don't remind me." Her stomach was still churning and Olivia had to lean her head back again to settle it. A few moments passed before she opened her eyes again, her gaze falling back onto his face. "Why? The werewolf thing. What happened?"

She was pale, looking like she might be sick again. Thankfully, she hadn't. Her dark eyes were darker than he had ever seen them before, but they were still looking at him with the same softness as before, even if he hadn't looked at her since the day of the luncheon. He stood there in silence as she rested her head on her forearms. Her head switched positions, staring at him again. His eyes stared at her blankly when she asked her question, not prepared for it (not that he was ever prepared for it), but especially where they currently were. He ran a hand down his face, pulling at his cheeks. "I had a friend that was killed by a werewolf," he said, sliding onto the ground next to her, leaning his head against the stall. "I was the one that found him."

Her heart broke for a second time as he told her his reason, her brows pulling together with empathy. Her dark eyes followed him as he slid down to the ground beside her and she reached out to gently grasp his hand. "I'm so sorry," she said earnestly. "That's a tragedy." Memories of the night she became a werewolf flooded her mind and she could feel tears fill her eyes. But there was something she would very much like to know. "Did you ever stop and consider what would have happened to him if he survived?" she asked him softly. "We've all been attacked. Some of us just had the misfortune to survive," she said darkly before there was a violent pull on her stomach. Olivia fell forward back over the toilet and willed the feeling to go away. She started breathing in deeply through her nose and slowly out of her mouth and the more she did it the more the feeling subsided. When she felt that she was safe from barfing again, she leaned back against the stall. "It's a curse, Sawyer," she told him, looking up at the lights above her. "Something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. There's nothing fun about being a werewolf."

He looked at his folded hands when she apologized. It wasn't her fault, but it was still a sensitive subject, one that just recently, had made him so angry and full of hate. It was a tragedy, seeing the mangled and torn remains of his friend. The distant howl still haunted him to this day. Sawyer didn't leave his apartment the night of a full moon. He took every precaution he could. And now, he was willingly sitting next to one, making sure she was okay.
His gaze looked to her when she asked if he had ever thought about what had happened if his friend had survived. He hadn't. Thinking of his friend still being alive was too much. If he had survived, would Sawyer be more sympathetic to werewolves, knowing that his friend was one? Would he have been able to be with Liv by now if they he was? He shook his head. "No."
She leaned forward again. He sat up straighter, ready to do something, like rub her back, hold her hair, something. But there was nothing to do. Olivia leaned back and looked at the ceiling. "I know that now," he said softly, leaning his head back and staring at the lights, too. "But it's not easy seeing the aftermath, knowing them. It's clearly something I'm not over."

Liv closed her eyes once more and swayed as yet another wave washed over her. There was no way she was going to be able to get back out there. She had pushed herself much too hard, but then again she hadn't been dealing with a broken heart last full moon. She breathed deeply and slowly as he was speaking, unable to answer until the wave had passed. It took a moment, but when her stomach quieted she relaxed. She leveled her gaze on him, her eyes filled with sadness for him. “I can imagine. I’m sorry, Sawyer.” Olivia wasn’t entirely over what happened to her, even though she has come to accept her circumstances. She’ll never be able to get that night out of her mind. "There would be no more attacks if it weren't for the stigma against us," she said. "That's what I'm trying to do. The recent protections of rights for creatures has helped, but you could see where it's gotten them. If I wasn't a Moretti, I would be just like them."

Concern waved over him; it was useless, though. There was nothing he could do for her. Not that he knew of. He never looked into werewolf transformation or how it affected a body. Seeing Olivia now, he wished he had. Maybe that's what he would do the night of the full moon, or even after he got home from practice. He shook his head. "Not your fault," he replied.
"There are some evil people out there, Liv. You don't know that," he answered. There were some notorious werewolves in the States over the years, and he was sure there were some in the UK. From the ones he had met because of Olivia, he knew that there were more kind ones than ones that wished harm. "What happened to you," he asked quietly, his eyes searching over her, recalling the scars over her torso.

He told her that she couldn't know that, that there were terrible people in this world and she didn't know what to say. Surely he could see what good it would do if Wolfsbane was readily available to werewolves? How the evil ones could be more easily found and convicted if it was mandatory to take. Olivia hated that she was still trying to change his mind. Her heart started to weigh down on her as it grew heavier and heavier, but there was no part of her that wanted to leave right now.
Sawyer asked her what had happened and Liv groaned as another wave of nausea rolled over her, pressing her head into the cold metal stall as she willed the feeling to go away. Her breath kept getting caught in her chest as the memories of that night resurfaced. "I was fifteen," she said quietly after a few moments, her eyes shut tightly as she recalled the moment in her mind. "I snuck out of my dorm to practice weaving through the trees on my broom, to push myself harder." Olivia took in a shuddering breath and held her hands out in front of her, feeling the way they trembled. "There's a reason the forest is forbidden and I found out why when I was knocked off my broom by it." Her hands slid up her arms and wrapped around to her back, feeling where the faint scars were that lined her back. "It tore into me and would've killed me if the groundskeeper didn't hear me scream." Her body shuddered violently at the memory of that werewolf's teeth sinking deep into her flesh. "It ran off before it could finish me off, but not before leaving me like this."

His eyes caressed over her as she groaned, leaning her head against the cold metal. He listened to her story, watching carefully her reactions. When she held her hands out in front of her, Sawyer wanted to grab them, hold them to his lips, assure her that she was safe. Those hands wrapped around herself, her fingers grazing where he knew those scars were. All of this, what she was, because she wanted to be better at Quidditch, be better on her broom. For once, he thought Quidditch wasn't worth it.
Sawyer didn't know how to answer. His apologies wouldn't change anything. Her life was taken from her, but she was still making something of it. But for a week once a month, she suffered, and now he cared and hated to see it. "Let's get you home, Liv," he said, standing up, offering his hand out for her to take.

What Olivia wanted more than anything was to fall into his embrace, but she knew she couldn't. Because of that night in the forest, she couldn't be with the one person she wanted. It wasn't fair. The tears had started to form in her eyes and Liv blinked them away, not wishing to cry anymore about this. Everything had changed for her when they finally fell into bed together and she wasn't sure that she'd ever get that night out of her mind. He was being so kind, so understanding, everything he hadn't been over the last several months and Olivia hated it. She hated it because how was she going to move on when he was like this? Her gut twisted at even the thought of moving on, knowing that she was just using Elio at this point, unsure of what she was doing. None of this was fair.
His voice broke the silence and Liv lifted her head to look at him. He was looking at her with those ocean eyes, the waters in them calmer than she had ever seen, those beautiful blue waves looking back at her with such kindness. It made her heart skip several beats before the band around it tightened, knowing that it didn't change anything. Her eyes flickered from his face to the hand he held out to her before she placed her delicate hand in his and rose from the ground. The sudden movement made her head spin, her stomach churning once more and she had to reach out to grab hold of him while she shut her eyes tightly to steady herself. "Sorry," she murmured as the wave started to pass. "I'm ready." She didn't let go of him, afraid if she did she would stumble. Her legs were gelatinous from all the work she has put her body through and, if she was being honest with herself, the electric surge she got from his touch was something she didn't want to miss out on.

Her hand wrapped around his. It was sweaty and clammy from her being sick, but it still sent a pulsing electric current up his extremity, one that he had once willed away with everything he had to no avail. Now it was just there, knowing that there was nothing he could do about it. He couldn't let it grow, but he couldn't fight it. She stood up, but braced onto him. His hands grabbed her waist to prevent her from falling, even if part of him just want to hold her closer. "Don't be," he said to her apology. Shortly after, she said that she was ready. "You sure," he asked, wanting to make sure there was nothing left in her stomach to decorate his practice uniform. When she reiterated that she was okay, Sawyer braced her just a bit tighter and apparated to the outside of her apartment in London, like the first night they had met all those months ago.

The strong pull of Apparition made her stomach turn violently and it took every last bit of willpower to keep herself from throwing up again. There was nothing left in her stomach so the acid burned up her esophagus, but she swallowed what rose in her mouth as her feet touched the ground. Olivia fell into him, her head still spinning like a cyclone, and she took in a sharp breath. That was something she was not going to be able to do for a second time today. Liv lingered in his arms longer than she should have before she straightened herself up and wiped the sweat from her brow. "I'm fine," she assured him, her chest still heaving as she tried to catch her breath.
Now that she had steadied herself, her dark gaze looked over the alleyway they had landed in. Her heart twisted as she recalled the last time they were in this alley together. Heat rose to her cheeks, coloring them for the first time all day, and she gazed into Sawyer's eyes. "Thank you."
