Character History: Sawyer grew up in a small house with parents and two sisters. It felt like they were just scraping by, barely enough to pay for the necessities. There definitely was not enough for splurging. Sawyer made do with what he was given, learning to work for what he wanted. When he wanted a new bike when he was ten, he went door to door asking if he could mow their lawns or anything that could make him money.
When he was 11, the Muggle-born received a letter stating that he was a wizard and was invited to a boarding school in Massachusetts. Sawyer was excited, knowing that he was different in some way, having strange things happen around him with no explanation. His excitement was quickly squished when his parents told him that they couldn’t afford it.
Fortunately, there was a scholarship that would pay for the young boy’s needs. Sawyer never took his scholarship for granted during that time. He worked diligently, trying to get the best grades. He was never top of his class, but he was better than average. Despite doing well in his classes, his true passion was on the Quidditch field.
Sawyer joined the Thunderbird Quidditch team in his third year. The worst part about that experience was that he had to use a school broom, which put him at a horrible disadvantage. He practiced for hours and hours his second year and the summer before, knowing that his reflexes were quick and his aim was swift and true. The school broom made him slower.
He worked the next summer harder, working odd and end jobs, saving the money for a decent broom. It was used, but it was still better than the ancient brooms at the school with the frayed ends. His newer broom showcased his already great skills even better. Sawyer knew he was a good Quidditch player, but soon realized he had potential to be great.
For his Sixth and Seventh years, Sawyer was the Captain of the Thunderbird team. He developed strong leadership skills, which was a good exercise for his quick temper. When he was off of the field, Sawyer was quick to react to anything that he didn’t agree with.
The seventh year was his hardest, as one of his close friends was attacked by a werewolf and didn’t survive. The “person” claimed that they had forgotten to take their potion and that they had only missed one dose. Sawyer didn’t know how to cope with the loss of his friend, still feeling the loss to this day. His grief manifested into hatred and anger of creatures, thinking that they have only the “beast” mentality and are great at manipulating others into thinking otherwise.
After he graduated school, he was drafted to the Fitchburg Finches as a Chaser. Sawyer had been for the team for two years before wanting something different, getting tired of the Massachusetts scenery. The new team was smart in signing him and for more money. He surely has improved the team since joining.
