The wind whistled as it rushed around her body, Olivia pulling hard on her broom's handle. She shifted her weight and pulled again, effortlessly drifting her broom to the right, the Quaffle tucked neatly under her arm. Liv drifted around the goalposts, forcing their keeper to follow her with his eyes. His reflexes were slower than they should've been and she was planning on taking advantage of it. As she came around the last goalpost, Liv tossed the Quaffle into the left hoop before the Keeper had the chance to turn his head around. The Keeper grumbled as he flew down to catch the ball. When he had it in hand, Mason blew the whistle, signaling the end of practice. Olivia followed her teammates down to the pitch green and elegantly hopped off her broom, tagging along as they all walked to where their Captain was standing.
Mason complimented everyone's efforts, but said he'd like to see the Chasers stay a little later to work on their teamwork. Their Hawkshead formation needed work and the Thimblerig Shuffle could always improve. Liv's gaze flickered over to Sawyer for a brief moment before she looked back to Mason, her jaw clenched a little. Despite the confusing things she has been feeling for him or the civility he showed the night of the ball, Olivia couldn't forget the look on his face or the coldness in his voice when he told her the world would be better off if she was dead. That wasn't something you just got over. But Liv was determined to be a professional, so even though her body screamed at the idea of more time around him, she curtly nodded her understanding to her Captain. Jack was left in charge as the rest of the team broke off and started heading to the locker rooms.
"Before we get started, I'm going to run inside and get something to drink," said Jack once the Chasers had congregated. Olivia pressed her lips together, but nodded once more. Jack left her alone with Sawyer. She took that moment to inspect her broom, holding it up under the lights of the stadium. It was one of the first presents her parents got her after the attack - a customized Quinn Stardust. Her fingers ran along the handle, tracing the wolf emblem engraved in it. The entire broom was made of ebony, a silver inlay running up the length of the broom with sleek, gray bristles at the tail. Aside from her wand, it was her favorite possession. Despite the wear and tear it has been through these last three years, it still looked brand new. Olivia took Quidditch seriously, so she maintained her gear. It was one of the things she was most passionate about. "How long does it take to get a drink?" she asked out loud, mostly to herself.

He wished multiple times that the league had helmets. Head injuries were so common, especially with bludgers, but his poor hair. It was haphazard, splayed in all sorts of directions. Sawyer could handle helmet hair, but it took much convincing to have his curls lay down in a less chaotic manner, making it hard to be presentable. Wind whipped in his hair after he flew after Olivia, waiting for her to throw him the quaffle since he was open and obviously better. For some crazy reason, she didn't, hogging the ball for herself. Surprisingly, she made the goal. Well, not too surprising. She had been working and practicing harder.
He landed on the ground, walking with his broom in hand as Mason was addressing the team, complimenting them for their efforts. Apparently their efforts were good enough, but the Chaser still needed more work. When he turned his back, Sawyer rolled his eyes. He didn't need more work. It was the other two. Sawyer was a team player when it benefited a play. It wasn't his fault if he didn't see a logical opening for a pass. Why risk the quaffle when it was safe with him?
Jack was left in charge and addressed him and Olivia that he was going to get a drink. What athlete didn't bring something to drink out on the field? He didn't understand the senior Chaser. He was peculiar, to say the least. While he waited, he looked over his broom - perfect, as usual - and tried to flatten his hair to no avail. Jack still wasn't back, so Sawyer began some stretches, not wanting to stiffen up later. He was stretching his right hamstring when Olivia spoke loudly. He couldn't help the entertained small smile that graced his features, glad that he wasn't facing the witch and wiped it off immediately. "Apparently fifteen minutes," he stated. Sawyer didn't want to wait all day, and he desperately wanted a shower. He let out a huff. "Do you just want to get started? I just want to get this over with."

Liv was drinking from her own water bottle when Sawyer spoke up. She hadn't expected him to respond to her, but she was glad that he suggested they start without Jack. The evening was slipping away into night and Olivia desperately wanted to get home and take a bath. Some epsom salt would help her sore muscles and a glass of fine wine would loosen her up. She lowered her water bottle and twisted the cap shut before tossing it back on the green. "Yeah, might as well," she responded, casting a glance over to where Jack had disappeared to. Hopefully he'd be back soon and they could, as Sawyer said, get this over with. Olivia mounted her broom and kicked off, soaring high up in the sky.
The raven haired witch flew around in a zig-zag as Sawyer entered the skies. The Quaffle was being passed to her and she flew to it, catching it with ease. Her fingers gripped her broom handle as she zoomed toward the goals, passing back to Sawyer and watching as he made the goal. It went like this for several more minutes before Liv caught sight of Jack reentering the pitch. Olivia skidded to a stop in the high center, the Quaffle tucked under her arm. She waited for Sawyer to catch up to her. "Look who decided to join us," she said to him, gesturing with a nod of her head at Jack slowly stretching his limbs. She understood why he was left in charge - Liv was a rookie and Sawyer was still new to the team - but she was getting pretty annoyed that he was dragging this out and it was written on her face. Her gaze shifted to Sawyer and she tossed him the ball. "I just hope he speeds this along." She had stuff to do.

Sawyer was slightly surprised when Olivia agreed with him to get started. She was so obstinate. Anything that he agreed or suggested, he was certain that she would go with the opposite. Apparently not when it dealt with their time after an already long practice. He saddled his broom, wishing that they made seats for these instead of a long, narrow piece of wood. It was highly uncomfortable. Maybe he should develop a broom. Something that was actually comfortable and make long games bearable.
They alternated between catching and scoring a goal, doing oddly well together. He hated when things went smoothly with Olivia. It went against every fiber in his body to get along with her kind. But he was willing to do just about anything to get done with practice. He and Olivia were already putting in their time, not slacking off like Jack was. He wished that Mason could see how more determined he and Olivia were compared to Jack. Jack had been on the team for about five years, just renewing his second contract, and he had gotten lazy and complacent.
He eased to a stop next to Olivia, hearing her unpleasant tone about Jack, wishing that their team member would hurry up. Sawyer wasn't one for manifesting what he wanted. He made it happen. "Hey! Let's go! Some of us don't need the help like others," he shouted to Jack, puling his broom to the right, taking off toward the goals as he threw the ball back to Olivia.

She hated the way she felt around him. It was clear to her that their teamwork was improving and Liv knew that was a good thing. But when things went this well with the two of them, it just made her think of that night so long ago. It was really fucking hard to get that feeling out of her mind and there were times when it was an impossible battle to win. This was one of those times. Olivia did her best to remember the things he had said to her, to remember the way he looked at her, how he spoke to her. It made it easier to remind herself that she hated him.
Sawyer didn't waste any time in telling Jack to get a move on and Olivia found herself wishing she had done so herself. With everything that has been going on, Liv felt like she lost a part of herself. The part that would meet any adversity with fire and passion. She started to miss the old Olivia Moretti who would hex or jinx someone in a second if they said a cross word to her or her friends. That Olivia got things done. He didn't give her much time to really dwell on it, tossing the ball back to her. Liv turned and leaned forward, picking up speed again as she chased after him. Sawyer's booming call must have knocked the sense back into Jack because she looked over to see he had joined them. Olivia dove to the left and threw the Quaffle to him before zooming down the pitch.

Calling his teammate out did the trick. As he was soaring toward the goals, he saw Jack pick up the rear, pushing his broom as fast as it would go. Olivia handed off the quaffle to the slacking teammate as Sawyer circled around the posts, waiting for Jack to hand the ball off to him. When the senior player finally closed the distance, the ball was tossed to Sawyer, who threw the quaffle into one of the three goals. "Again! You have a lot to make up for the lolly gagging you did, Jack," Sawyer called out, not cutting the teammate a break. It wasn't his fault it he and Olivia were prepared.
After about fifteen minutes of practice, on top of the fifteen minutes that Sawyer and Olivia had practiced before, Sawyer landed his broom on the ground. Jack hovered above the ground. "Who said you could stop?" Sawyer turned around, but continued to walk backwards, "I did. It's been 30 minutes. You shouldn't have slacked off." There was cursing from the senior player, but he didn't care. If Jack complained, then Sawyer would tell Mason the story that he and Olivia were the only ones that were prepared.
He continued walking when he heard someone walking in step next to him. He glanced over and saw Olivia next to him. Looking straight ahead, trying to keep his heart rate normal, he said, "You did good."

Sawyer scored a goal and Liv flew down to catch the Quaffle. She was glad for the distance because she couldn't help the amused smirk that started to spread across her features as Sawyer laid into Jack. At least the two of them were taking this seriously. Her opinion of Jack was really starting to sour. By the time she rejoined them, it had been wiped from her face. Liv passed back to jack and the three of them went again.
Fifteen more minutes went on by as the three of them worked on their formations and their teamwork. After hours of practice, Olivia was starting to tire, but she knew that she would push on if she needed to. Sawyer started to make his way to the green and Liv glanced over at Jack and shrugged before following him. She hopped off her broom effortlessly and shouldered it as her feet kept the momentum and started propelling her forward. Jack seemed to be annoyed that they were leaving, calling out to them. Olivia glanced over at Sawyer as he shot back at the other chaser, pausing to look over at the cursing form of her teammate. She didn't feel any sympathy for him. If he hadn't have wasted all that time, then maybe she would have felt different. But she was tired and she just wanted to get home.
Liv continued walking, not paying attention to anyone around her, not even realizing she was walking beside Sawyer until he spoke up. "What?" Her gaze snapped over to him, bewildered. Did he just... compliment her? Her gaze flickered over the side of his face for a moment before she forced it to the ground. "Um, thanks," she offered, the confusion lingering in her voice. A heavy silence fell on them as they both walked toward the locker room. What was she supposed to say? She had to say something, right? "I, uh, liked the way you handled Jack," she said after a few moments, her eyes still trained ahead of her.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her head turn quickly to him. He didn't turn to meet her gaze. His hand grasped his broom handle tightly, his knuckle probably turning white. Sawyer didn't know why he complimented her. Things like that slipped out when he let his guard down around. He was always diligent and made sure not to slip, but there were the few moments. More than he cared to admit when it came to Olivia. She thanked him, and his heart fluttered. He shoved it down.
There was silence between them, just like how he preferred it. It was easier to ignore her when they weren't talking. What he didn't expect for her was to answer back. His eyes widened in surprise as they remained fixed on the locker room. "Thanks," he replied. He paused. "He's been getting too relaxed, and Mason keeps letting him get away with it." [/b]

Olivia really wished that she could just walk away from him without giving him a second thought. He hated her and she hated him; there was really nothing for them to say to each other. But she couldn't help but be drawn to him and it was really frustrating. That connection between them had lingered with her all these months later and it was getting increasingly difficult for her to stay angry at him. He thanked her and her insides fluttered in response, a wave of shame rushing over her in turn. Sawyer paused and Olivia thought that was all he was going to say, but he surprised her by continuing. Liv hummed thoughtfully at his words. "I've noticed," she said after a beat. She didn't know if Mason was hoping that he'd get his shit together or if he was just turning a blind eye to it, but it was getting rather annoying. It was hard to work as a team when one of the members wasn't as serious as the rest were. "We could say something to Mason," she offered tentatively. "We'll have a better chance of beating United if he starts pulling his weight."

While they were walking on the uneven ground, his hand grazed hers. The electrical twinge shot up his arm, followed by an uncomfortable crawling sensation. Sawyer hated the contradictory feelings he had for Olivia, remembering all too well of the Liv he had met months ago. But he knew what lingered under her flesh, that fought the war to come out once a month every full moon. He still wasn't sure if she could shift willingly or not, but he hadn't seen it, and he had seen her in heated moments on the field, even against him.
Sawyer shook his head, even though Olivia wasn't looking at him. "Telling Mason won't do anything. He's already coddled him since he's the only Chaser that has experience on this team. Lighting a fire under his ass with some good competition is the best way for now. Show him that everyone on this field is replaceable," Sawyer stated. It didn't matter if they had contracts. If there was someone better for the position, the Wasps' could buy out Jack's contract.

His hand brushed against hers and electricity surged through her arm, heat rushing to her cheeks despite herself as she quickly brought her hand to her stomach. She clenched her fist and kept her eyes trained on the locker room. That simple touch was enough to send her heart into a fit, it was pumping harder than it had on the pitch. Then she could feel the stirring of butterflies in her belly. She hated it, hated that she still felt that way about him, hated that something so simple could have such an affect on her. Olivia fiercely reminded herself that he loathed werewolves and that included her. Their connection no longer meant anything.
"Right," was all Liv said to him, her head bobbing as she softly bit on her bottom lip. That made a lot more sense and she had to admit that he was rather clever and more experienced than she was. It was not an easy pill to swallow. They were getting closer to the locker room now and for some reason she felt a little disappointed. Was she really wanting to spend more time with him? Her heart lurched in her chest at the idea. Standing next to him was torture and Olivia felt like she was a glutton for punishment. "You'd make a good Captain," she said despite her mind screaming at her, telling her not to.
They had reached the locker room and they stood outside the entrance. Liv turned to him and offered a half-hearted smile. "Goodnight, Sawyer," she whispered before heading into the women's section.

He truly did not understand Olivia. He had made it clear that he didn't want anything to do with her, that he did not like her kind. Sawyer had kept to himself for months, only looking at her when she wasn't aware. He had even said that the world would have been better off without her. He didn't understand why she was still trying to be civil. For that matter, he didn't know why he was either. Maybe it was because, over the last nine months, she hadn't once tried to attack and kill him. But that didn't mean that she wouldn't try, if she didn't make her potion or take it in time. Anything could still happen.
He stared at her, stunned into silence, as she complimented him, saying that he would be a good captain, and then going into the locker room. Sawyer didn't know how to react to that or to her. His body wanted different things when it came to her, and it was getting tiring.[/blockquote[]
