CARMEN CANEK
21 | Gryffindor | Wizardborn | Photographer at The Daily Prophet
Carmen Canek is the youngest daughter in a family of seven. She immigrated to the UK when she was 10 years old and was the last of her family to attend Hogwarts. During her time at Hogwarts, Carmen played as a chaser for the Gryffindor team, one of the only magical things that Carmen understood. Initially, she had a difficult time adjusting to Hogwarts and the UK but quickly found her niche when she began writing in her fifth year. With a taste for adventure and mystery, her passion for writing took her out into the real world where she quickly began interning for a muggle newspaper. Missing her Wizarding roots, she found it was far easier to get her foot in the door as a photographer so she put her pen down and picked up a camera. Despite this, she still writes independently from the Daily Prophet, publishing her work on an online blog which has a small, but loyal, following. Carmen focuses on doing video content when she can, but her passion lies in investigative writing-- she's actively seeking stories of grand scales. Criminals, corruption, or catastrophe, Carmen's on it.
PERSONALITY
Her siblings often call her a ball of sunshine, and it's true. She is ever the optimistic, always looking for the bright side of things. Despite her interest in the grim, gruesome and morbid stories, she is quite cheerful. She is steadfast in her determination and rather stubborn when she sets her mind to something. Carmen isn't scared of standing up for what she believes in but avoids conflict when she can. Her ability to make friends in most people is one of her greatest skills, and allows her to carve out a space for herself in places journalists normally wouldn't. She is willing to put her life on the line for a story, and has done too many stupid things to count for a good report. Despite her precision in journalism, she can be a bit clumsy with magic. Aside from her blog, her hobbies include attending quidditch games, museum going, and drawing at the beach (even though she most certainly is very bad at it.) Carmen is a loyal friend and an irritating enemy to have. WHAT CARMEN NEEDSFriends: Carmen is the extrovert of all extroverts. During her time at Hogwarts, she had many friends, both on and off the Quidditch team. Despite living alone, she hates being alone. She works well with people of all different walks of life, and no matter the person, she is convinced she can become friends with them. Close friends, acquaintances, work friends, the whole nine yards! Carmen needs it!
Rivals: Though her technical job title is Photographer, Carmen is only a few years away from making a name for herself and becoming an editor or a full time writer at the Daily Prophet. She is a superb writer and she has at least a small internet presence. I think it would be fun for Carmen to have a few reporter rivals-- whether they work for an opposing publication or just feel the need to compete with Carmen. Just throw some fun, friendly, rivals Carmens way!
Enemies: Carmen is a friendly person, yes, but she is also nosey as hell. She sticks herself in places she shouldn't be just to get the scoop on a story. People that don't necessarily love reports or journalists that bump head with Carmen! These could be quidditch players, Hogwarts professors, Ministry employees-- honestly anyone! That would be the milder end of things. Or criminals that feel she's getting a little toooo close to busting their operation. Just anyone that Carmen might have crossed-- in school, out of school, or on the job. The more, the merrier.
Romantic Relationships: Her main goal at the moment is to find something so exciting, thrilling, or audacious that is will launch her career and she'll have a million billion job offers-- but that's not to say she isn't complete immune to matters of the heart. Carmen had a handful of flings or relationships at Hogwarts, if you want to establish a past relationship with Carmen for drama. Or, if you're a bit more patient, someone might be able to get past her workaholic behavior over a period of time. PLOTS
WHERE IN THE WORLD IS CARMEN CANEK: Okay, for this one... I'll be honest. I just want Carmen to take a trip to Acapulco again. She misses her home town SO much, but won't return because there's no reason. A lead on a criminal takes her to the Americas to dig deeper into it and it turns out to be nothing in the long run-- but she takes a little trip back to Acapulco for a little relaxation time. The wizarding community is small in Acapulco but not completely nonexistent. When Carmen returns to some of her Aunts and Uncles, they tell her of a mystery figure asking around about her. This cracks open a whole stalker conspiracy that leaves Carmen and her companions on her toes.
A HEIST: You've heard the phrase, wrong place, wrong time? That's Carmen's life philosophy. She gets swept up in trouble like a tornado sweeping up dirt and debris. This case just happens to be at a museum Carmen was visiting when a heist to steal a priceless magical artifacts takes place. What ensues? Chaos and danger. But boy will it be fun.
EXTRA EXTRA: READ ALL ABOUT IT: Interesting stories, whistle blowing, corruption in the Ministry of Magic, or a secret crime syndicate? Send it Carmen's way! She will go through any bodily harm to get a good story! Currently, Carmen has the threads of one interesting story but she wants to get her hands on as many as she can. Whether Carmen stumbles upon the story by chance, or if someone reaches out to her via social media, she'll be on the case!
O FOR A MUSE OF FIRE: Outside of investigative pieces, Carmen finds solace in her fictional writing. It's the one thing she keeps to herself, and will not let ANYONE else see it or read it. Because of the nature of her work, she often likes to fixate on individuals in her life and base her fictional works off the real life accounts of an individual. Anyone with an interesting life, backstory, or tragedies would appeal to Carmen. I see this plot ending when the subject discovers she's been writing about them-- and then that will turn out how it does!
SAMEERA ASTOR
23 | Gryffindor | Muggleborn | Owner of Eeylops Owl Emporium
Sammy Astor is the adopted, and slightly estranged, daughter of Ezra and Ramona Astor, two incredibly powerful muggle politicians in the UK. She grew up with a brother that hated, and parents that adopted her for purely PR reasons. Safe to say once she got to Hogwarts, she was glad to be away from the Astor. During her time at Hogwarts, she faced hardship in the form of her brother, Danny's, relentless torment. She thrived in Care for Magical Creatures and soon found herself working at Eeylops Owl Emporium the summer after she graduated Hogwarts. The owner was old, tired, and eventually passed the business down to Sammy where she has stayed for many years. Despite her initial love of the business, she is tired and burnt out. Long nights with owls have made her yearn for a different career-- but she's not sure in what, quite yet. The options are endless.
PERSONALITY Unlike her older brother, Sammy was a bit more reserved in school. Her personality is very gentle, but at times, she becomes quite volatile. She is diligent and hardworking, but a loyal and caring friend. Once someone betrays her trust, it takes a very, very long time to build it back up. Sammy isn't the most outspoken person, but if something really bothers her she will speak up about it. Though she is a "gentle" person, she loves adventure. She's willing to try anything once, and the more daring and exciting the better.
WHAT SAMMY NEEDS Friends: Sammy is currently in the process of trying to rebuild her oldest friendship with Shiloh Ollivander after her brother broke them apart. With her friendship being shattered, her job making her miserable, and her brother constantly putting a thorn in her side, Sammy is in some desperate need of some fun friends. Whether these are old school pals, or folks she's made friends by being a busy owner in Diagon Alley, she's game for it all! And maybe these friends could even help guide her towards her eventual passion... whatever that could be.
Enemies: Danny Astor is a very influential person. Despite his cruelty to Sammy and many others, he has an incredibly charming personality. It is likely he swayed others to dislike or even hate Sammy. Or if you think of any other reasons someone might hate Sammy, I'm game!
Romantic Relationships: Bestie girlfriend is in the trenches. She had one summer fling that broke her heart, a crush on a girl that turned out to hate her because of her brother, and a grade school boyfriend that lasted three days. She's watched her best friend get heartbroken by her brother, and she's kind of a hater of love and romance. Not completely. But she definitely needs someone to show her that the world isn't a terrible place filled with heartless pricks.
PLOTS ALL YOU NEED IS A SPARK: What the hell is Sammy doing with her life? She ended up being a business owner way before she knew what she wanted to do with her life! Whatever dreams she had after graduating Hogwarts were all washed away and turned to dust by the sands of time. But part of her heart burns for something more than tending to Owls in her lonesome.
Sammy has a plethora of interests-- magical creatures being a main one. She was very good with them in school, but has been so busy taking care of her owls that she's hardly had anytime to experience ANYTHING. Whether she gets a taste of flying of Quidditch broom again or serving alcohol, Sammy is ready and willing to have any knew experience. Whacky adventures, or quirky situations, this is a pretty open plot that contains some little mini quests that characters can go on helping Sammy find what her calling is.
MAGICAL CREATURE MISADVENTURES: This is exactly what it sounds like it-- some kind of creature has escaped, or has stumbled into the characters and chaos ensues. Whether this is some harmless and innocent fun, or something more serious with higher stakes, this is a very high energy chase that it going to ultimately influence Sammy into exploring her passions for creatures-- or maybe sways her to be fearful but curious. Either way this plot has some good possibilities for angst or for laughs!
FINDING A FAMILY: Very found family right here-- Sammy had never felt at home with her adoptive parents, her adoptive brother might as well declare his hatred of her ever day, and Sammy had never felt like she belonged anywhere. Finding a group of people she fit in with would mean the world again-- I'm thinking this might happen through a multi-thread adventure of some kind. Like a few folks hear about some kind of crazy stuff happening in Knockturn Alley and the group and Sammy feel morally obligated to take care of it or something? Hilarity ensues and friendship blossoms!
MORE COMING SOON: I will be updating her plots soon! While Sammy has the potential for big plots, she's definitely not built for getting into danger. If she were thrown into something high intensity, it would be fun, but she'd certainly be out of her depth in any situation.
ORLA FINCH
19 | Hufflepuff | Wizardborn | Auror in Training
Orla is the middle child to Louise and Ruth Finch. Raised in a family full of love and caring in the rural countryside of Killin, Scotland, Orla was fast friends with her oldest brother, Caspian. They fought and made up and fought and made up and the pattern continued when they went to Hogwarts. Orla was already bright and adventurous but difficult at times. Her opinions were strong and she'd fight tooth and nail to prove that she was right. After the disappearance and supposed death of her brother, Orla's personality rapidly changed. She became a lot cagier with people and found it trouble keeping her friends around her. Convinced that the Ministry of Magic botched her brother's investigation, she's taken it upon herself to continue the investigation and find the truth behind her brother's disappearance. She's went so far as to seek employment with the Ministry to use their resources for her own goals.
PERSONALITY Orla is a good person at heart with only the best intentions but her obsession with solving her brother's disappearance has consumed her. In her older years, she is consumed with her work, looking for any lead that will point her towards her brother or at least what happened to him. She is hyper intelligent, and an observer of all things. Orla has an eidetic memory so she is easy to remember places, people, and documents. Away from her work, Orla can be playful and kind, always standing up for people she believes in. She was never a good liar up until her sixth and seventh year at Hogwarts and now she's a grade A actress when she needs to. She's willing to sacrifice anything to get to the truth.
WHAT ORLA NEEDS Friends: This girl has no hobbies-- all she does is go to work, sleep, go to work sleep. Some friends that could pull her away from her work would be so refreshing and hopefully save her from herself! She's a loyal and fun friend to have, despite the hard time she's having right now... She's just one woman drowning in an ocean of grief and possible delusion.
Enemies: Orla is very much the type of person you either love or despise. She can be kind, but she can also be stubborn and irritating. Once she sets her heart on something, it's very difficult for her to turn from that. Her mouth moves faster than her head so on too many occasions has she insulted or upset someone over poorly chosen words.
Romantic Relationships: Orla's first love left her because her obsession with her work and finding the truth-- but rather than feeling heartbroken or sad, Orla thought it was for the best. She needs someone to melt her heart and sober her up-- to show her the world is more than just finding her brother. That she can have a life passed his probable murder.
PLOTS NOTHING ELSE MATTERS: This plot will pertain to Orla's investigation into the death of her brother Caspian Finch.
TROUBLE BREWING IN LONDON: This plot will pertain to Orla's investigation into the criminal enterprise of known criminal Murphree and his large scale operation that the Ministry has refused to acknowledge for years.
MORE TO COME: I have plots that I need to confirm and flesh out a bit more before I post them but keep your eyes peel!
ELSIE GREER
35 | Gryffindor | Wizardborn | Professor Of Care For Magical Creatures
Elsie is the oldest, and most disgruntled, child of famous former quidditch players Isla and Charles Greer. She found her talent for interacting with magical creatures when she first attended Hogwarts. She quickly fell in love after she rescued and nursed back to health a bowtruckle from the Forbidden Forest. After her time in Hogwarts, her parents argued that a job at the Ministry of Magic would be respectable, but after discovering the Ministry's oppressive stance on magical creatures and how they should be dealt with, Elsie dedicated her life to the protection and study of magical creatures. Her research took her all across the world, but she eventually landed in the United States where she fell in love with a wizard. After mysterious circumstances forced Elsie back to the UK, she took up the mantle of Care of Magical Creatures Professor.
PERSONALITY Elsie is the dictionary definition of a human firecracker-- she is bright, bold and makes a boom wherever she goes. She walks along the beaten path, and typically does things different from what the normal prescribed method is. Some might call her far out, spacey, or just plain weird, but Elsie believes in the power of words, intentions and actions. No one is ever past saving. No creature is too dangerous to take care of. No mountain is too tall to climb. She's stubborn as a rock, headstrong and difficult to compromise with. Her opinions are usually concrete, but on matters she hasn't yet to form opinions on, she is opened minded. Elsie loves to party and have fun and excitement in her life. It's not uncommon to catch her at the Leaky Cauldron having drinks with friends on the weekends.
WHAT ELSIE NEEDS Friends: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! This woman is in need of some friends her own age! She spends all day with kids, and then hangs out in her house by herself, and occasionally goes out to the Leaky Cauldron. Be them Professors or adults of other employment, she just needs a shoulder to lean on and a friend to laugh with.
Enemies: Elsie's a person you either love or you hate. No one is indifferent to her personality-- and more often than not, people find themselves in the HATE category of things. Elsie's philosophy on life aren't for everyone, and she gets that. Plus her hatred of the Ministry puts a whole bunch of people on her list of people she has disdain for-- including her own parents.
Romantic Relationships: Elsie might not be ready for this one yet-- but who knows. Her fiancé died almost two years ago and Elsie has still yet to reenter the dating scene. Thankfully, teaching keeps her busy and away from meeting from people but she wouldn't be completely opposed if the right situation arose.
PLOTS SECRETS DON'T MAKE FRIENDS: The circumstances around Elsie's return to the UK have been mysterious to say the least. She spent over a decade in the U.S. and yet none of her friends or her family know the reason she returned. The only thing to show for her time is her research, which is kept in a set of journals in her personal study. A series of murders were reported by muggle media after her swift return home. But surely Elsie Greer didn't kill anyone... Right?
THE TREES ARE SICK: Animals have been retreating from the forest ever since she returned to Hogwarts as a Professor. Even her Bowtruckle, Oakley has been acting strange. Elsie is not sure what is happening, but she does know something is making the Forbidden Forest sick. While she doesn't have time to look into herself, between teaching classes and whatnot, she has started compiling a list of symptoms about the forests illness. If another Professor, or even student, were to take notice, Elsie would feel obligated to look into it further or at least help the effort to fix whatever was happening inside the Forest.
LAURIE GREER
16 | Ravenclaw | Wizardborn | Chaser and Lover of Astronomy Laurie Greer is the youngest child of famous former Quidditch players Charles and Isla Greer. She grew up with her parents absent most of the time and with a majority of her siblings either gone or in Hogwarts. She is closet with her older sisters, Ella and Sophia, thanks to the close in their age. Laurie loves quidditch and is actually a stellar player, though she currently doesn't have aspirations to go pro due to her parents infamy. She loves astronomy and regularly can be found in the Astronomy Tower, spending her time gazing at heavenly bodies, studying up on the latest texts about space, or simply doing her homework because the Astronomy Tower brings her comfort. She is estranged from her sister, Elsie, after she disappeared when she was a little kid and is currently working to reestablish a relationship with her.
PERSONALITY The only Greer sibling that turned out a Ravenclaw, Laurie is highly intelligent and as sharp as a knife. She is clever and can solve puzzles like it's her job to do so. She has an aptitude in all her subjects, and regularly scores perfect marks on tests and assignments. Laurie considers herself to be an introverted person, preferring the company of her books and her stars to others. Though, there are the occasional few that manage to break past her walls and make an exception to that rule. Though she considers herself a highly logical person, she does believe there is a curse placed on her family, per stories from her entire family. She is a reasonable, level-headed individual, but can hold onto some of the Greer family stubbornness. A problem solver at her best, and an accidental troublemaker at worst, Laurie Greer certainly has her work cut out for her upholding-- or disproving-- the infamy around the Greer name.
WHAT LAURIE NEEDS Friends: Though Laurie keeps to herself, a few good friends always makes the day a bit brighter. While she keeps her circle small, there's still room for a few people to squeeze there way into her heart as friend. Rivals: Laurie is competitive in quidditch and that's it. She prides herself on being very skilled because she's worked hard, not because of her parents or her siblings. Having another quidditch rival-- or maybe even academic rival-- might be fun to play out. Enemies: Her sister being a professor at Hogwarts has already caused more problems and at least one student to hate her, it wouldn't be a shock if another came up. But besides that, I don't see Laurie having many enemies... Besides Rose Kelly and Poppy "Fucking" Carmichael. Romantic Relationships: Laurie might be precise in her other endeavors in life, but man is she clumsy when it comes to her own crushes. She tries not to get too emotional, but as with lying, it's difficult to hide when she starts feeling something for someone. Past crushes would be fun to explore too, especially considering Laurie was a much more reserved person in her youth. PLOTS THE GREER FAMILY CURSE: Laurie, along with the rest of her family, believe their family name has a curse that causes unfortunate things to happen to them every once in a while. Laurie just so happens to think her curse makes all animals and creatures want her dead-- which isn't so much true, but after a few strange occurrences, she's trying to get to the bottom of the curse and see if she can break it for good. (This plot has many, many, many chances for adventures, danger, or mishaps with magical creatures or Hogwarts pets.) Either you can believe her or you can't, but regardless, she's going to solve the mystery and save her family from the slight inconvenience of their curse. THE TREES ARE SICK: The forest had been sick for a long time before her sister got back... Elsie's not the only one noticing the strange things happening to the Forbidden Forest. Laurie might take it upon herself to investigate if the chance arises... But she'd never do it alone. MORE TO COME: I'm still trying to figure out what direction I want to take Laurie, so as I'm figuring out, there will be more plots available later.

Hey Sol,
Laurie and Izzy are close in age. Since she is a chaser and he a keeper for different teams maybe some Quidditch rivalry can be going on there.

Izzy Busy I haven't updated this plotter in a while, but I think rivals might suit Laurie and Izzy! She's getting a bit more combative and quidditch is her one solace, so she'd find good rivalry where she can get it! I've also got Nadia Wylde who plays quidditch and is around Izzy's age! She's a little more... rough around the edges than Laurie and far less kind!

Ceilidh and Elsie might strike up a friendship I think [insert eyes emoji]. Ceilidh tends to keep to herself a lot (uhh a lot of deep-seated commitment issues going on there for a FEW reasons) but she's not opposed to going out for a couple drinks if she gets invited! Orrr maybe Ceilidh could get involved as a curse rehabilitator to work with Elsie on the The Trees Are Sick plot? Maybe Elsie met her when she had a smaller job for a curse rehabber and they had some good banter, and then Ceilidh's just fresh in her mind when she starts thinking about what's going on there? And Elsie has somebody to reach out to like "sooo hypothetically if a forest (which may or may not be forbidden) had a curse..." And Ceilidh has anyone to talk to
