Character History: It was in the charming and picturesque village of Snowhill that John Brown met the sweetest girl he had ever met. At the time, John was an Obliviator and had been in town on assignment. He stopped at the local cafe for a pastry and some coffee when he first saw her. As a pureblooded wizard, he never thought that he would be so enraptured with a muggle but here he was unable to take his eyes off of her. He boldly bought her order as well as his and introduced himself. The rest was some beautiful history.
After he proposed, John told Cathy the truth of the wizarding world. It was difficult for a woman of science to accept and she first thought he was playing a cruel joke on her. But when he provided evidence, she had to believe what she saw. Magic was real and her soon-to-be husband wielded it. Catherine accepted him and his world for what they were. They married soon after and she continued her studies, aspiring to follow in her father’s footsteps and become the village physician. John and Cat purchased a home in the village and moved in, finding out they were expecting their first child shortly after.
Joshua was a blessing. It was hard raising a baby while Catherine was in med school, but John took time off work to help. Josh was an active and athletic kid from a young age, taking to all forms of physical activity. By the time Cat was pregnant with their second, he was showing signs of magic. John introduced him to a broom and Josh was a natural at it. His father had high aspirations of him joining the Quidditch team once he got to Hogwarts.
When Evelyn was born, her mother was finally out of school and working at her grandfather’s practice. Evie was a good natured baby, very easy going. She hardly cried and was content most of those early years. As she grew older, she looked up to her brother and followed him everywhere. It wasn’t until she learned to read that she came into her own. Evie loved to read and she did it often. At first it was children's books she would read, but as time went on and her brother was at Hogwarts she would take his books and consume them. Then when he was gone to the castle, she would raid her mother’s collection. She loved the classics even more than the educational ones, but when she discovered romance novels her whole world changed.
Evie fell in love with stories like Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, Emma, and so many more. For her birthday and Christmas, her parents would purchase her preteen novels from the local bookstore and she loved those as well. She started to dream of the day she fell in love and, in truth, she romanticized it. Evelyn dreamed of being swept off her feet like the girls in the books and she could hardly wait for the day it happened. But romance wasn’t the only thing on her mind.
With her own magic budding, she poured herself in preparing for the day she went to Hogwarts. She read the books well before she got her acceptance letter and learned all that she could. When she got her own wand, she was ecstatic. Soon, very soon, she would travel to the castle and experience casting for the first time in her life. The day came and she was sorted into Ravenclaw, unlike her brother who was a Gryffindor. Evie was exceedingly proud of her house and, despite her reserved nature, made plenty of friends.
Once classes had begun, it was clear that she was gifted. Evelyn excelled at Transfiguration and Charms and earned a lot of praise for her spellwork. Potions and Herbology did not come so naturally to her, but with a little hard work she did well in those areas as well. It was already known that she was abysmal on a broom, but it only became more apparent during Flying class. Evie did not have the talent her brother had and it was the only class she didn’t do well in. Thankfully, she didn’t need it after the first year and she never touched a broom again.
Her fifth year, she was chosen to become a Prefect. Evelyn took her role very seriously and she didn’t abuse the power she had been given. She was kind and fair to everyone, but did not tolerate bullying of any kind. That year was the year she underwent the process of becoming an Animagus. It was something that had always fascinated her and she knew it would be a challenge. By the end of that year, she had transformed into a beautiful white dove, the tip of her wings midnight black. Her heart was bursting with pride at her success. She couldn’t wait to get home and show her family what she had accomplished.
