Ralph raced through the courtyard with a snowball cupped in one hand. He did a dramatic tuck and roll before disappearing behind a statue for cover. He gave a small huff and then cheered in victory as a snowball went flying above where he'd been a moment before. "Nice try, but you'll have to do better than that! I'm fast as lightning!" He scooted himself into a sitting position and glanced around the statue to figure out where his attackers were. The Hufflepuff had organized a huge snowball fight, and for the past twenty minutes, several students had forgotten they were divided into four houses and instead took up sides on one of two teams. The first team was the Snow Dragons and the other was the Winter Warriors. Essentially it was a game of snow tag mixed with capture the flag. Each team had one flag that the opposing team had to capture. If someone where to be hit by a snowball, they were to freeze in place. The only way to get unfrozen was for a teammate to touch you. This left two ways to win. Freeze the entire opposing team or capture their flag. The best part was that the teams had been given thirty minutes to build their Fort, be it by hand or magic. Ralph had suggested the Winter Warriors create a maze. With the help of some older students, they'd made it happen. The fight for victory had been going on for about twenty minutes now and everyone seemed to be having fun. He was especially happy with the turn out.
Notes: It's a free for all! Come join the fun.

Jazmina had heard rumors of a huge snowball fight going on, so she'd come out to see what all the fuss was about. It didn't take long to convince her to join the fun. She'd joined the Snow Dragons and when it came to building a fort, she'd taken the time to design a beautiful dragon outside of the fort, almost as if it were guarding the fortress. When the game started, she didn't retreat into the safety of the fort. No, Jazzy went in for the frontal assault. It was freeing to be able to play around like this. To think a second year had been the one to organize it all. She ducked down quickly as a torrent of snowballs were launched in her direction. She couldn't help the laugh that escaped her, and she quickly stopped herself to avoid giving away her position. She started to crawl forward, her eyes wide.

There was no way he was missing out on the biggest snowball fight of the year. Not when his little brother had been the man behind the plan. Liam even decided to join the Winter Warriors out of loyalty. Snowballs were being thrown in every direction. It was chaotic fun everywhere. The dark haired male crept around the enemy line, ready to infiltrate their base and steal their flag, but he stopped as a group of students went racing by. The were wearing the enemy colors, so he quickly sent several snowballs flying in their direction. To avoid detection, he dove into the snow and started crawling away. The cold sunk into his clothes, but he ignored it as he hurried to escape. A snowball landed inches from his face and he had to roll off to the left. He ended up rolling off a slope into a mound of snow. Brown eyes blinked and he lifted his head, only to be smacked in the face with a snowball. Liam was thankful for the softness of the snow. He sat back in the snow and raised his hand, waiting to be rescued.

Poppy sat off by herself as her peers raced up and down the courtyard, the area filled with war cries and laughter. She wanted to join in on the fun, but had stayed back as the rules and instructions had been given. She didn't think anyone wanted to play with her, so she was just watching the fun unfold in the distance. They all looked to be having fun. Sitting on the ground, she rolled a snowball in her hands and tossed it a few feet in front of her. Maybe she ought to just go inside and not worry about everyone and their stupid game. If they wanted to have fun without her, so be it. She stood up, cheeks flushed from the cold, and started back towards the castle.

The courtyard was filled with excitement and laughter and Bella was joining in on the festivities... from the edge of the courtyard. The dark haired witch was watching as her boyfriend dove around in the snow and really got into the snowball fight, laughter pouring out of her. Bella giggled when he got hit in the face and bowed out, part of her tempted to go get him, but some movement caught her eye. She turned in time to see the snowball hit the ground just feet away from Poppy Carmichael. Her dark eyes watched as she stood up, a pang running through her heart. She could only imagine how Poppy was feeling at that moment, but she imagined it must feel so lonely when you were not well-liked. Bella had grown quite fond of her twin brother, Parker, in their short acquaintance and she felt like all Poppy really needed was for someone to care. Without much consideration or forethought, Bella stepped forward as Poppy moved to walk past her. "This looks like it's a lot of fun," she said with a smile. "I was thinking of joining in. Would you like to join, Poppy?"

Nadia didn't grow up with any siblings so most of her winters were spent inside, next to a fireplace hearing stories being told by her father. They were filled with hot chocolate and cold days on the boat with hardly any reward. They were not filled with childish snowball fights-- and even now as she went to Hogwarts, she stayed far away from such foolishness. She was ready for Spring when the courtyards weren't filled with ammunition for her peers to start battling each other. It wasn't any of her business. Even still, she had to travel through the courtyard to get where she was going and there was no avoiding the mass of chaos that had erupted. All she knew is if she was hit with a snowball she was going to be seriously pissed--
As if something from above had been reading her mind, a white ball of powder collided with her face, the slushy material running down her skin. Needles shot through her cheeks and gloved hands quickly brushed off the white powder, a deadly look replacing her once relaxed expression. "Who did it?" She announced at a group of horrified second or third years. Reaching down, she gathered a ball of snow in her hands before freezing it with a water charm, creating a hard snowball. A wicked smile spread on her face. "I'll give you five seconds to run." She counted before running off in the madness to seek her revenge.

Ralph was running through the snow, his boots covered in mud and slushed. He stopped when he spotted Liam frozen. "How did you manage to get hit," he asked. He tagged his brother back in and took off running. "Keep pushing Winter Warriors!" He charged forward and sent a snowball flying, and to his dismay, it collided with Nadia Wylde . His eyes widened as she asked who did it. He had two other teammates with him, and a collective instinct said for them all to run. Ralph took off, his legs carrying him like the wind. He tripped, skidding across the ground. He gave a small huff and then lifted his head to stare up at Nadia. Ralph just knew this was it, but he decided to speak up first. "Before you hit me with that," he started, clearly out of breath. "Can you at least pick a team so we know who you're playing for? Everyone's welcome to join in. We have the Winter Warriors and the Snow Dragons."

Blue eyes lifted as she saw a pair of shoes in her walking space. She went straight into fight or flight mode. She had expected someone to tease her about not being part of the huge snowball fight. Instead, she got a warm greeting from Bella. Poppy blinked in confusion, words failing her. She went to make a snappy remark about it looking like hogwash, but then she was offered to join the fray. It took the wind right out of her sails. Poppy glanced in the direction of the playing kids, and then back to the Ravenclaw. "It does look kind of fun," she murmured. I don't think anyone wants me on their team though. I'm Poppy Carmichael, the resident menace." She gave a shrug, acting as if she didn't care. She very much did. Poppy liked to play games just as much as the next fourteen year old. Instead, she had isolated herself by being a bully. It was a consequence that came with her actions. She'd suck it up and move on. She could play snowball fights with statues all on her own. She didn't need real people. She shoved her hands into her jacket pockets. "You should go have fun though. Pretty sure your boyfriend's brother is about to get creamed by the Ice Queen herself." Wouldn't it be nice to throw a snowball at Nadia's head. If she was going to join the fight, she could at least play by the rules. Poppy could have sworn that snowball was more ice than snow. Isabella Clarke
