A running list of ideas and characters that I've thought could be fun to explore some day. Anyone is welcome to help develop or take these ideas and run with them. Some might be too grandiose...
Half Baked Ideas
- Eldridge terror level threat… found under the island of Azkaban?? It created the dementors with Ekrizdis. Something causes it to awaken or escape the island
- Magical virus that makes creatures attack or maybe effects just muggleborns?? The last could make for some good pureblood drama
- Some catastrophe in the dept of mysteries. An experiment gone wrong or something found in the hall of prophecies that had been hidden or an unspeakable was cross breeding plants and creatures and letting them loose or they accidently got loose
- A portal is opened that allows witches and wizards to travel back in time to a specific era
- An infestation of creatures from a different time phase invades the wizarding world. Muggles can't see them but they wreak havoc to wizarding world
- ADDED 1/23/24: If anyone wants a dark plot: Someone figures out how to successfully double a person with the genimo charm by modifying the transfigurations object permeance spell AND by making a horcrux to use the bit of soul to stabilize the clone.
Slightly More Baked Ideas
- Merlin's Private Library Found Under Stonehenge: While studying Stonehenge, Yuri Blishen discovers a secret entrance under the mysterious formation. Powerful enchantments and hidden runes protected it. Excited at the potential, Yuri immediately concealed the find and put together an expedition. Muggles may not have known the origins of the rock formation; however, that was because the Statute of Secrecy required the magical world to hide the true story. Merlin himself used giants to move the dolerite rock 150 miles from Pembrokeshire. The full magical potential of the monument have never been fully explored due to the popularity of muggle tourism. Fortunately, the hidden entrance was far enough away from the main formation, they were able to hide their efforts and ward away muggles.
- Ghosts Grow Restless: Several groups of ghosts decide haunting only magical locations, unseen by muggles is a waste of their eternal time. They coordinate hauntings across Great Brittan. At first they're only able to make noises muggles could hear, until they discovered how to use those sounds to cause vibrations. They wreak havoc on unsuspecting muggles. It takes the ministry time to determine the cause of the outbreak of unknown magical disturbances. Possible resolution: The Department of Mysteries might be able to develop traps which could imprison the energy signatures. Ghosts who refused to evacuate muggle places would be trapped and placed with in the veil deep inside the Department of Mysteries.
- MACUSA Magical Civil War: Factions within the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) leads to a magical civil war in the U.S. At the establishment of the congress, Native American witches and wizards were relegated to to none voting members. Their magical traditions were closely held secrets. The mistrust of any government (magical or muggle) was strong. MACUSA declares that all magical rituals and spells needed to be registered with the congress, causing protests across the country.
- Magical Blight: A virus sweeps over magical plants in every continent. Potion ingredients are scarce and herbologists worked to build sealed greenhouses to rescue critical species. Healers work with herbologists to find a cure for the blight. The blight spreads to the forbidden forest, driving magical creatures living within the forest out of the depths, dangerously close to the school grounds. While the staff work to contain the threat, criminals take advantage of the vacated, remote regions. Hoping to find forgotten magic or undiscovered treasures, the infiltration is alarming and spills out into Hogsmeade. The ministry works to apprehend the interlopers; however, the vast area coupled with the hidden dangers slow progress. One particularly cut throat syndicate discovered a vast cave system that they claimed for their own, fight off any forest inhabitant that get close. The centaurs have enough of the situation and organized a stand off near the quidditch grounds. They moved their major encampment onto the pitch in the dark of night and creates a conflict at the school.
Possible Future Characters
- Rayna Ivanova | Alchemist | Durmstrang: Rayna is first and foremost a specialist. She sees no value in being mediocre at many things. It's better to be a master in a skill that causes others to seek her out and use the riches gained to buy the other things or people she needs. This goes the same for her life. Rayna is master of her own fate. She will fail or succeed based on her own merits. Rayna is of the opinion that no one is going to help anyone out of the goodness of their hearts. Everyone has an agenda and one best understand that agenda before accepting aid or assistance. One should only accept such offers if there's a way to use that agenda for one's own objectives.
- Atticus Galanis | Unspeakable | Hufflepuff: Atticus is a deeply loyal and hardworking person, when he was younger he used to think that perseverance would get him through anything. Now that he's older he's less sure, but he still powers through most problems without straying from his path. As steadfast as Atticus is he's also very secretive, he just isn't a very open person. He's shy, soft spoken, and uncomfortable with verbal displays of affection. If anyone ever wants to make Atticus feel awkward they need only compliment him. He's a single dad, his partner was also an unspeakable who died on duty.
- Shiloh Ollivander | Wandmaker | Ravenclaw: Shiloh is logical, practical, and systematic in her approach to life, and above all she is a perfectionist. She grew up with tremendous pressure on her shoulders, the first born of her generation from the celebrated wandmaking family. Even though her parents made it clear she should forge her own path, the legacy she represented followed her wherever she went. It was something she learned to embrace and not resent, though it was a struggle at Hogwarts. Shiloh can appear to be an enigma at times. She's been trained to focus on very fine details and to manipulate magic in micro ways. Her precision and control is unmatched. Until she's faced with a big problem. She's often so focused on minute details, she loses sight of the big picture or can completely miss obvious details because they were discounted as unimportant. When something works or goes right, she doesn't see much need to say anything, it worked after all, why waste the energy. This doesn't extend to her friends. Shiloh purposely curates the people she allows into her life. Once they're in, they're in and she does try to change or fix them. She just accepts them for who they are and the choices they make.
- Wiley Dempsey | Healer or Charms Professor | Gryffindor: Wiley is unabashedly a Gryffindor from a family of entirely Ravenclaws. The eldest of 10 siblings, she knew she was different but didn't grasp how until one by one each sibling got sorted. After the third, she saw where it was going. She was condemned to love and be loved by eccentric intellectuals that didn't understand there were situations that called for bold action. Wiley is innovative, progressive, and shamelessly revolutionary. Despite that bluster, she is a humanitarian, dedicated to making the world a better place. Having been an only child for the formative years followed by the oldest of so many, she's learned to be independent and a caretaker. It just depends on the needs of those around her.
- Micah Howard | Daily Prophet Editor or Reporter | Gryffindor or Slytherin: Micah expects people to leave him. He's suffered the loss of both his parents at a young age and nearly lost his sister to an obscurial. His ability to expect the worst and trust no one makes him a great reporter but a difficult friend. He can work a room with charm and grace to get the information most are unwilling to part with. In the end, he desires to use his talents for the better. He thinks transparency is key to avoiding future dark wizards and wars. He views the Daily Prophet as a tool to keep the ministry honest and isn't a reporter that can be bought off. He'll run a story down until he finds the truth. At all costs.
- Ophelia Sideris | Legal Aid or Solicitor | Slytherin: Ophelia is driven. She believes there is nothing that can't be overcome with patience, perseverance, dedication, and a healthy dose of calculation. Many people are intimidated by her competence and no nonsense approach. She doesn't think its her job to be less intimidating. People can just do better. Raised in a prominent Greek Pureblood magical line, she believes there is a reason magic can be traced through families and it's not as simple as blood. She thinks that's an archaic thought. She's of the opinion that magic is genetic and that's all the more reason to encourage magical people to marry other magical people. She won't go so far as to say a Pureblood shouldn't get together with a muggleborn witch or wizard if that's what they want in life, but it's at the cost of carrying on their magical legacy, which she views as irresponsible. Ophelia is of the opinion that the reason why one works hard is so that they can have nice things. Luxury isn't something she's ashamed of or something she denies herself.
