Character History: Given up for adoption the day he was born, Mickey was placed in a magical orphanage where he spent the first six months of his life being cared for by the staff until he was adopted by Diana Trembley. Diana was a lonely witch who lived in Ontario. She adopted the infant and raised him with all the love and joy she could muster. Mickey was happy there. Diana was a musician and Mickey had a natural talent for it. They spent many days playing music together, traveling to exciting places, and overall enjoying life. When he wasn't following his mother around, he was dressing his gifted teddy bear; named Captain Mint in the mint green baby blanket left to him by his birth mother. Mickey never really questioned why his parents didn't want him. Diana was the only mother he'd ever known and that was enough for him.
When Mickey was nine, Diana mysteriously passed away in her sleep, leaving the boy devastated. Sent back to the orphanage, Mickey took a long time to adjust. His entire world had collapsed around him in the blink of an eye. He became withdrawn and separated himself from the rest of the children. The staff thought it best to place him in a home with no children. A ten year old Mickey was sent to stay with Lucas and Caroline Danvers. The Danvers were good people, but Mickey didn't want to live with them. He wanted his mother back. At nine years old, his magic was unrefined and wild. There were many occurrences of accidental magic. The Danvers did their best to appease the child, but Mickey could not be swayed. They had to send him back. Mickey didn't care. He didn't need anyone.
When it came time to start school, Mickey was sent to Ilvermorny. He was sorted into Wampus. School was hard for the young boy. He struggled through classes, he wasn't good at making friends, and often times he found himself in detention. Mickey couldn't understand how things had gone from perfect to horrible. He was grateful when summer came around and he could go back to the orphanage. As the years went by, he watched as the other kids were sent off to foster homes and adopted, but never him. Mickey felt unwanted. No one wanted to take in an older child.
It wouldn't be until he was twelve that he was finally given another chance. He would go to live with his second foster family, Delilah and James Adams. Unlike the Danvers, the Adams family were not good people. They'd taken Mickey in because it would look good for their political campaign. They swore that they would adopt him, but their daughter Sophia was quick to remind him that he wasn't really wanted. Mickey often tried to drown out reality with music. For eight months he did fine until the Adams won their campaign, and then things got bad. Sophia made it a habit of sneaking into his room and breaking his things. It started with her breaking picture frames containing photos of him and Diana. Then she cut the strings on his guitar. Everything she did was ignored by her parents. The final straw was when she tore the arm off of his bear. Mickey had never hit a person, but in that moment, the world had gone red. That evening, he was sent back to the orphanage.
Mickey had cried all through the night, doing his best to repair the damage. The best he could do was sew the end together. Captain Mint would have to live as a one-armed pirate. Through all the drama, Mickey started to question if something he too was broken. Was that why his birth mother didn't want him? If she'd left him Captain Mint and his blanket, then she had to care a little, right? Maybe she would change her mind and take him back if he found her.
At thirteen, Mickey was desperate to find his birth mother. He tried to get the staff to tell him any information, but they claimed to know nothing. He thought that maybe if he straightened up a bit, they might be more willing to help. More importantly, he wanted his mother to think he was a good child and not some delinquent. With a goal in mind, his grades improved and he started to socialize a bit more. He befriended a Thunderbird boy, Roman Reisz in his class and the two became inseparable. Music was their love language. Mickey sang and played guitar, Roman was killer on the drums. Eventually, they found a third person to join them, Miles Frost who played bass. Naturally, they formed a band, playing for the school when they could and booking small gigs during the summer. Mickey was doing a lot better now that he was grounded.
It wasn't until he turned sixteen that he started to get worried. He was close to aging out of the orphanage and he was concerned about his future. Desperation set in, and he upped his search for his mother. Everything led to dead ends. To his great surprise, that summer he would be adopted by the St. Pierre family. Florence and Ethan St. Pierre had never intended on adopting a child, but their son Nolan was one of Mickey's roommates. Nolan spoke highly of Mickey and often told his parents that Mickey needed some foundation; a home and a family to call his own. Mickey had never considered himself to be extremely close with Nolan, but that single act of kindness would change their relationship forever.
It took Mickey the full summer to really accept the St. Pierre family. Florence and Ethan both worked for MACUSA, and were often busy, but they made special time for Mickey. They made sure all his needs were met and encouraged him to pursue his music interests. Every gig was attended and they bought him all the equipment he desired. When Mickey wasn't tied up with music and the band, he was building bonds with Nolan and Namoi, the St. Pierre's children. Nolan was the same age as him. They didn't have a lot in common, but Nolan introduced Mickey to all sorts of things. Nolan taught Mickey how to swim, how to play cards, snuck him his first alcoholic beverage, took him to wild parties, and they got tattoos in secrecy. Things were different with Naomi. She was three years younger and very reserved. They spent their time together watching TV and she got Mickey to like reading. Mickey grew to love his family.
On his eighteenth birthday, Florence and Ethan sat Mickey down and gave him a letter from his birth mother. They asked him if he wanted privacy, and he nodded silently. For years he'd thought the only thing he had was a blanket and bear, both of which he still kept. It took him almost thirty minutes to finally open the letter. He read it twice over. It left him with mixed emotions. His mother's name was Korinna. There was no mention of his father. His mother was a duelist and she was indeed selfish. She had given him up to keep living her life as she saw fit. Was it possible to love and hate someone at the same time?
Part of him wanted to be angry, but in reality, he was relieved to know that she would have kept him if she could. She did love him. She'd called him her little kitten. He'd smiled at that, right before the waterworks started. She was a Wampus, just like him, and he immediately thought to search the school archives to find a picture the moment they returned for the start of term. He'd laughed mechanically when she wrote of hoping he'd had a good life. When he'd lived with Diana life had been perfect, but after that, it had been one horrid nightmare after the next until he'd met Roman and Miles. Of course, things got even better two years ago when the St. Pierre family adopted him. Still, receiving the letter was the best gift he could have been given,
After spending some time by himself, Mickey spoke with his parents and siblings, reading the letter for a third time, but out loud this time. He wanted them to know that he intended on finding his mother. He wanted them to know that it wasn't for lack of loving them, but because he needed to meet and know the woman that had given birth to him. Mickey was under the impression that perhaps she would be willing to meet face to face now that she didn't have to worry about stopping her life for him. It had been eighteen years, surely she was curious about the man he had become. Florence, Ethan, Nolan, and Naomi all supported him.
After graduation, Mickey focused on his band. He had always wanted to go professional, and so the band, Echoes of Betrayal went official. Mickey Chevalier, Roman Reisz, and Miles Frost made their name quickly in Ontario and soon all across Canada. All the while, Mickey was intent on finding his mother. When the band finally started touring across the States, he had hope that she would show up. Their names and faces were plastered on every billboard and magazine, but there was no luck. A growing fanbase, plenty of haters, three albums, and still he couldn't find his mother.
Now at the age of twenty, Echoes of Betrayal is touring across the UK. Mickey remains hopeful that he will find her soon. He's even released two singles titled: Little Kitten and Can You Hear Me in hopes that she'll know it's him.
