Character History: Lola was the second twin to be born to Mikael and Antionette Goldswithe. Her arrival into this world was not an easy one, the infant inhaling amniotic fluid and having to be cared for in the hospital while her brother got to go home. Of course, Lola doesn’t remember this, but she does remember all the times she was sick as a child. There had been so many trips to the doctors, tests upon tests to make sure everything was fine. It was a scary time for her and she had a hard time coping at first. Her mother, however, would smother her with love until the fear disappeared. As she grew older, she started to mature some and her health issues started to get better. She started to feel more optimistic about the world and the future, her bubbly personality starting to shine through the heavy darkness that surrounded her illnesses.
Her childhood was spent by her mother’s side, typically indoors helping her clean or cook meals, occasionally venturing outside to help with the gardening. Lola knew that she was a witch, knew that magic existed, but she hardly ever saw it used. She learned how to get her hands dirty, how to make things from scratch, how to put in the work to make something look good. It became kind of relaxing and she started to look forward to these moments with her mom. Everything would change the summer she and Finch turned 10.
Her mother was gone from this world, suddenly and unexpectedly, without a clue as to what happened to her. The family nearly fell apart. Those first few months following her disappearance were the hardest that she had ever been through. Their grief was heavy, but her father struggled to go on afterwards. He and Finch wanted answers, and Lola wanted that, too, but what she wanted more than anything, what she knew her mother would want, was for their family to not fall into despair. She toughened up a lot in the years following her mother’s death, needing to have some sense of control in her life, knowing she needed to be strong for her brother and father.
Their letters came after their eleventh birthdays, but Mikael was against his children entering the Wizarding World, especially after his wife, their mother, disappeared the second she went back to it. He kept them home for another couple of years before the twins won the battle to go. Antionette would want them to be happy, so Lola did her best to do that. She started to slowly heal as she went to school and started making friends. Her optimism started to show itself again and it got easier to exist. Her grief started to lessen and she was able to pour herself into her life at Hogwarts.
The years since have been relatively uneventful, which is saying a lot for that particular castle, and Lola has found herself quite popular. Her brother, too, given that he was the Seeker for his house’s team. She was athletic as well and the thought of Quidditch appealed to her, but she didn’t want to do anything that may damage her good health.
