Olivia was honestly shocked at how quickly the story came out about her breakup with Elio and her new relationship with Sawyer. Her face was plastered all over the tabloids, some calling her out for wasting Elio’s time, but most were talking about how the rumors of their romance were true. She supposed that the fans were going crazy for this gossip and she was sure that she’s gotten a few dirty looks from some female fans. The worst part about this story coming out this quickly was that she hadn’t gotten a chance to talk to her father about it - she thought she'd have more time.
Riccardo knew part of their story after he asked her about their relationship and told her not to lie to him. Her father was not a man to be gainsaid, so she told him the truth. At that point, Sawyer still hated her, hated that she was a werewolf, still wanted her dead. Riccardo was not happy when he heard the things he had said to his daughter and he almost left to find him right then and there until Liv had persuaded him not to. At the time, she couldn’t explain why she didn’t want her father to confront him, but she knew she wanted him to be civil. The last time he met with Sawyer he was not civil in the least, threatening him unbeknownst to Olivia. When Sawyer told her, she was livid.
Her relationship with her father was still mending after years of silence and abandonment and she felt that if he was going to continue to be a part of her life, then he was going to have to learn to respect some boundaries. After practice the day the story came out, Olivia quickly changed and kissed Sawyer goodbye before Apparating to her family's estate. Her heels landed flawlessly on concrete just outside the gates, the mansion towering in front of her. Taking in a sharp, deep breath, Liv steeled herself before marching through the gates and into the house. She was greeted by some house elves who Olivia smiled and waved to, but she didn't slow down as she made her way to her father's office.
The office door was ajar and she could see her father at his desk, his hands clasped in front of him as he stared down at something on his desk with a stormy expression. Olivia swallowed, knowing exactly what it was that he was looking at. She continued to walk to the door, her heels clicking against the tiled floors as she neared the room. He looked up when he heard her coming and met her gaze, rising from his seat and moving around the desk as Liv walked inside. Her father reached out for her, gripping her arms and staring at her with concern in his brown eyes. "Amore mio, what is this I read in the magazines? You hate this man." She gazed into his eyes with warmth growing in her own. "I don't," she replied with a smile. "Papà, I love him. And he loves me. He's not the same person he was, he's already changed so much."
Her father was looking at her with disbelief etched into every line on his face. "How am I supposed to believe that, Olivia? The man said you were better off dead! Called you a monster!" Tears shimmered in her eyes as they started to form, but instead of feeling sad, she was starting to get angry. "Yes, he did. But he's apologized to me! He regrets what he said and he's proven to me time after time that he has changed for the better!" She crossed her arms as she stared into her father's eyes. "He means the world to me and it's important to me that you give him a chance," she said with a softer tone.
Riccardo searched her eyes with his own for a moment or two before he let go of her to wipe his hands down his face, letting out a deep sigh. "I will have to see it for myself," he said at last. "Invite him to dinner." Her chest lightened, a weight being lifted off it, and she smiled. Liv stepped forward to wrap her arms around her father's torso, his arms coming up to wrap around her shoulders as he held her close. "Promise you'll be civil?" He leaned down to press a kiss to the top of her head. "I will try."
“And I want you to apologize to him for threatening him,” she said as she pulled back, giving him a serious look. Riccardo seemed irritated with this request and he opened his mouth to protest when Olivia interjected and said, “You know that I can take care of myself. I do not need you threatening people for me. Sawyer is not a threat to me and he’s done nothing but show me kindness since.” His lips were pressed into a fine line, his eyes narrowed as he stared down at her, but Olivia stood her ground and stared back at him with the same intensity. Finally, after a few tense moments, Ric sighed and nodded curtly. A bright smile pulled at her lips. “Thank you, Papà.”
