On a typical day, you wouldn't really see Mia without Ivy or vice versa. The two girls had been inseparable since their first year and for good reason; they actually liked each other, which is more than they could say about other people. Neither of the two were really approachable, but they did have friends outside of each other. No one ever came close to them, though - they were truly the best of friends. So, you can understand just how bored Mia was sitting in the common room waiting for Ivy to come back from showering and whatever else she needed to do. Studying was, she supposed, an option, but the girl really didn't feel like pouring over her notes right now. The raven-haired witch was curled up on the leather couch inspecting her nails while she waited. A fire was crackling in the hearth and the warmth washed over her. Her dark gaze scanned the common room, looking for something to do, when it settled on one of her teammates.
Out of all of her teammates - with the exception of Ivy - Mia liked Jazmina the most. She was quieter than the others and she minded her own fucking business, which was a huge plus at this school. The older snake watched her for a moment as she read over some book at the table and eventually came to the decision to approach her. Mia uncurled her legs and swung them over the side of the couch, her hands sliding down to her knees as she stood herself up and started to walk over to the younger witch. She slid into the chair directly across from her and rested her hands on the dark, cool wood of the table. Her head titled slightly as she watched her. "Jazzy," she said in greeting, a soft smile playing on her lips. "What are you so engrossed in this evening?"

Jazmina relished the times in which she could be alone. Even in the common room, with several snakes moving in and out, she found peace in her books. She had strategically completed all of her homework; leaving her room for small pleasures. She preferred books about Dark Arts, but even she knew that reading such books in the open would draw attention. Thus, she had settled on something less provocative. Her topic of choice: a witch's grimoire written so long ago that the ink on the pages had begun to fade. Beside her was parchment and ink to write down what she could read. There had been spells she'd never heard of, and Jazzy was not one to let an opportunity slip by. Someone took a seat across from her, but she continued to read over the pages without notice. If they needed something, they would speak up. Speak up, is exactly what Mia King did. Jazzy slowly raised her gaze from the pages and offered up a smile. "Good evening, Mia," she greeted politely. "A Madam Isabella de Lafayette has written a grimoire. I believe this is the original copy." She placed her fingers gently on the page. "A gift from the librarian." It was more like Jazzy had begged for something new and exciting to read and said librarian had finally caved. "No Ivy this evening," she asked. It was unusual to see the two of them apart.

If Mia hadn't been quite so bored, she probably would have left Jazmina alone to finish her reading in peace. But as it was, she needed some form of entertainment. She had no idea how long her friend would be. Her dark eyes flickered down to the open book, noticing the faded writing. Mia didn't do much reading outside of her studies and even then it was not often. Her perfect princess of a sister was the one who liked to read and Mia had vowed she'd be nothing like that twat. Her fingers drummed against the table as Jazzy spoke. Hmmm... that actually sounded pretty interesting. "Got any cool spells from it?" she asked curiously. Mia wouldn't mind learning something new from an old ass book. She squinted as she smiled when she mentioned it was from the librarian. It was clearly not a genuine smile, but that's because she couldn't give two shits about the library. "No, she's busy with something else," she said with a wave of her hand. "Honestly, I'm bored out of my fucking mind. There's nothing fun to do tonight. I wish we'd have a party soon because, damn, I could really use one."

It seemed she wouldn't be getting rid of Mia as quickly as she'd hoped. She figured the talk of old books would bore the older Slytherin, but instead, Mia wanted to know if she'd found anything of interest. Her suspicions were further confirmed as Mia admitted that Ivy was off doing her own thing, leaving Mia to be bored out of her mind. So much for a quiet evening. She turned the book towards the other girl. "No beauty spells I'm afraid," she spoke. Not that Mia needed any. She was gorgeous. "I found a few things here and there. It's taken time to work through it all." She gave a thoughtful pause. Mia probably didn't want to know all the details. She probably just wanted to know the spells. "I don't think there's much in here that would interest you, if I'm being honest." She sat back in her chair. "You're bored. What do you want to do?" Mia mentioned a party, and Jazzy nodded lightly. "I saw Campion come in early. I imagine I can convince him and Finnick to put something together."

Her dark eyes lazily scanned over the text as Jazzy turned it toward her. Beauty spells would have been cool, she guessed, but Mia didn't need any of that. You'd have to be blind to not see how fucking snatched she was. No, she was interested in anything forbidden, anything she could use in a duel. Her perfectly manicured brows raised at the blonde's presumption, giving her a look. "You don't know that. There anything I can use against people?" Mia knew she was a tormentor, but she honestly did not give a fuck. If people were dumb enough to get in her way, then she was going to make an example of them. Her interest in the spells completely vanished when Jazmina suggested getting her brothers to throw a party. "No shit? That would be badass."

"Plenty," Jazmina responded as if this was an everyday conversation that wasn't delving into the darker side of things. She gathered her notes and laid out a page of neatly written words with spells she hadn't yet practiced. It detailed the names, incantations, wand work, and effects. Madam Lafayette had been a genius, in the sense of documenting her findings. Now whether or not these spells worked was to be determined. "She dabbled in all sorts of things," Jazzy spoke. "From spells that work on animals to humans." She tapped one section. "She used this one to cleanly skin a wild rabbit when she was lost in the woods." Jazmina was willing to bet it could be used on people, though she didn't fancy torture. It wasn't her cup of tea. She tilted her head, meeting Mia's gaze. "This one is supposed to blind your enemies temporarily in a pinch." After some research, she'd gathered the old witch had many enemies. Probably muggles who stumbled across her home that she'd made deep in the woods. She'd written about how after she'd gotten lost, she'd found herself in the midst of nature. Jazzy loved the outdoors, but civilization was a necessity. She stifled a small laugh as Mia got excited about a party. "Yes," she said with a nod. "Want to go hunt them down with me."

Jazzy definitely piqued Mia's interest when she said there were plenty of spells that could be used against others. The dark haired witch sat up in her seat a little, leaning in to look at Jazmina's notes. Her dark eyes scanned over the page, actually paying attention this time to what she was reading. Mia was impressed, her brows raising and her lips turning into a pleased smile. Some of these were too dark for Mia's taste; she was a bully, not a psychopath, but she had to admit more than a few intrigued her. "Damn," she whistled. "Now that's some good shit." She'd have to save some of those for later, see what kind of damage those spells can really do. Jaz asked if she wanted to go hunt the boys down with her and she laughed. "Duh. I think I'd die of boredom if I have to spend another moment here doing nothing." Slapping her hands on the table, Mia stood from her seat. "Do you have any idea where they might be?" Mia didn't know Campion and Finnick well enough to know where they liked to hang out.
