Character History: Francis King was the firstborn son of Edward King, head of the King family. The Kings were not a part of the Sacred 28 because of the stain their ancestor Augustus created when he married a muggle woman in the late 1800s. Since then, the Kings have ensured that they only married into the purest of families. They accomplished this by arranging marriages for each of their children when they came of age. Francis was no different. Mariana was a pureblooded witch who came from the wealthy and influential Rivera family from Spain. She made a name for herself by earning a spot on the Wimbourne Wasps upon graduating from Beauxbatons. Edward arranged the marriage with her father and the two of them were man and wife by Mariana’s 18th birthday. Mariana would retire ten years later to raise her family.
Francis and Mariana did not fall in love right away. Their love was more gradual, coming on slowly as they built their family together. First was Camilla - bold and beautiful with such a brilliant mind. Instead of finding solace in Quidditch as her mother did, Camilla found respite in books. She read anything and everything she possibly could, all to gain more knowledge. Francis feared she may be the first King to be sorted in Ravenclaw, but he was pleasantly surprised when she became a Slytherin as he and all his ancestors were. Next came Darius. Where Camilla had intelligence, Darius had athleticism. He took to a broom as quickly as he did breathing and there was rarely a night where he wasn’t in the skies. The boy poured himself into Quidditch and made it his greatest ambition to be a big Quidditch star like his mother was. Sorted into Slytherin, he earned a spot on the house team by his second year.
Next was Mia. From the beginning, she spelled trouble for the Kings. Stubborn and vocal, she made her displeasure known to all. She came into this world kicking and screaming and she’d go out the same way. It became clear early on that their second daughter had an attitude problem. She wasn’t smart like Camilla or as athletic as Darius, but she had her voice and she was determined to use it. Francis and Mariana enrolled her in all of the etiquette classes that were expected from a witch of her social standing, but Mia could hardly be bothered with it. She was loud and she was vulgar and she couldn’t care less about what others thought of her. Camilla was the perfect princess whose shadow she’d forever be in. The only thing that called to her was dancing. Ballet, salsa, tango, every dance you could think of she excelled at. It was the one time in her life where she wasn’t yelling at the world.
Ezra was born shortly after Mia and he was the quietest of the Kings. The boy melded into the background and watched as his brother and sisters caused all kinds of havoc. He’d only become close with his younger sister, Aria, who was born two years after him. Aria looked up to her older sisters, particularly Camilla. Mia didn’t care at all - she was busy with her own life and she didn’t want to have a little sister follow her around anyway. In Mia’s eyes, her younger siblings were almost insignificant. That is, unless someone said anything bad about them. Though Mia was not close with her sisters or younger brother, she was fiercely loyal to her family and would fight tooth and nail for them. The only sibling she bonded to was Darius who taught her how to play Quidditch as her mother was busy with the younger Kings.
When it was her turn to go to Hogwarts, Mia was prepared. She knew that she wasn’t going to take a single elective that her older sister did, just out of spite, and she would do everything in her power to make a name for herself. On the Hogwarts Express, she walked around like she owned the place and settled in a car with a pretty and sophisticated looking blonde. If she was going to take Hogwarts by storm, she needed friends in her corner and this girl looked like just the sort she wanted. The girls struck up a conversation and the rest was history. Ivanna Lennox would become her closest friend. Both girls were sorted into Slytherin, making them dorm mates, only bringing them closer together. Mia knew she was better than everyone at that school, except for Ivy. She saw them as equals. Where Ivy led, Mia followed. And when Ivy joined the house team, so did Mia.
Her years at Hogwarts were not spent on academics. While she was not as clever as Camilla, Mia had her own talents in the magical world. Defense Against the Dark Arts quickly became her favorite subject with Charms as a close second. She couldn’t be bothered with Transfiguration or boring subjects like History or Astronomy. Though she was not studious, she made decent marks. Nothing extraordinary like perfect Camilla, save for DADA, but she did well enough to keep her spot on the Quidditch team. In her fifth year, a girl by the name of Franny told her she wasn’t good enough to become an Animagus and, after sending the girl to the Hospital Wing, Mia poured herself into becoming one. By the end of her fifth year, the transformation was complete and she turned into a beautiful black mamba. Without hesitation, Mia hunted Franny down and bit her in the ass earning her a weeks worth of detention. But, Merlin, it was so worth it.
Mia came into her sixth year feeling more confident than ever. Perfect Camilla and the rest of them no longer mattered because she was secure in who she was. Nothing was going to stand between her and her desire to take on the world. Mia’s still undecided on what she wants to do when she graduates, but she knows she’s sure as shit not going to the Ministry.
