Was there a place as glorious and perfect as the library? Nadia didn't think so. It was a place filled with as much knowledge as Nadia could ever hope or dream for, where silence was preserved above all else, and where most individuals who Nadia deemed idiots didn't dare step their foot in. It was like a safe haven from the usual dimwits of Hogwarts. Not all places in Hogwarts were like that, and she could say confidently that today was not a day that the dunces avoided the library. Nadia could hardly stand the chatter happening across from her. A group of third years giggling about something rather than studying. What were they doing in the library on a Saturday anyways? Did they seriously not have anything better to do? Didn't they need to be off sucking their thumb and being a headache for other people? Nadia did her best to ignore them, trying to immerse herself in a book about charms she'd found a few weeks back. Ancient Charms & How to Use Them: For the Modern Witch or Wizard. It was fascinating, but with the giggles happening every few seconds, it was impossible to get more than a few words in.
She snapped her harsh gaze up to the group of third year. The Gryffindor boy caught her gaze, quickly straightening up before gesturing to his friends to "shut up". Nadia nodded her head, looking down at her book again and feeling satisfied with herself. That is... until a ball of parchment hit her head. The girl shoved her seat back, palms pressed to the table, staring at the boy who held another ball clutched in his hand. Oh, they had a death wish, didn't they. Did they not know who they were messing with? Taking a deep breath, she departed from her table, holding the parchment in her hands. The boys dove back into their work, trying to seem unassuming but Nadia was already on a course of revenge. "Hello boys." She said with a smile that was anything but kind.
She placed her paper down in the center of their table, leaning in. "If you ever pull something like that again, I will personally feed you to the Acromantula's in the forbidden forest."
"Wh-What's an acromantula?" One of the boys stuttered out. Nadia grinned, straightening up and crossing her arms. "An acromantula is a giant spider that has a taste for little boys that cause trouble. And I'm friends with them. You think I'm joking? Throw another piece of paper at my head and I'll show you I'm not." Turning on her heel, she returned with rolled eyes to her table, reveling in the third year boys horrified looks. They wouldn't bother her anymore-- but someone else would. Lifting her gaze to the pain in her arse that approached, she raised an eyebrow. "What do you want?"

She made the trek to the library with such begrudging steps that she could have burned a hole in the floor. Poppy was not the type to study, but her recent marks had not been enough to earn her any grace with her Professors. Her 'bad behavior' and 'poor grades' were a 'disappointing reflection concerning her desire to be educated at such an outstanding establishment.' Their words, not hers. Poppy had let the words go in one ear and out of the other until it was decided her Hogsmeade privileges would be revoked until she could provide promising grades. Poppy had promised Parker that they would go to Hogsmeade for Sugar Quills, and she dared not go back on a promise to her twin. She'd told the Professors that they had a deal, and so she was off to study.
She had three essays to write, a pile of homework to turn in, and she had to make up both Potions classes she'd skipped to catch some extra sleep. Poppy thought she might drown in the paperwork before she ever had a chance to see Hogsmeade. Entering the library, she scanned the area, stopping in front of Nadia's table, only to be met with resistance. "To sit, obviously," the red head responded as she dropped her bag on the table. "What kind of stupid question was that?" She rolled her eyes and took a seat. She had had her eyes on the table while Nadia had been tormenting the third years. Just because the Slytherin had returned, did not mean Poppy was going to go elsewhere. Nadia could either live with it or find a new table.

"To sit, obviously."
God, were all lions this snippy? Poppy sounded much more like a sour Slytherin than a noble Gryffindor. Nadia readjusted in her seat, giving a hard glance to Poppy who was settling in with her stuff. Good. Great. The fourth year was making herself home. At the table Nadia was studying at. She had very few options-- Option 1... She could gather up all her stuff and move tables. The library wasn't super busy, there were plenty of tables open. Tables that Poppy could have used but simply didn't. But moving meant conceding a battle and that simply wouldn't do. Option 2 meant staying at the table with Poppy. Which could carry with it a myriad of issues. Poppy Carmichael had been the talk of the town the past few weeks. She'd been starting fights like wildfires starting in dry brush. Nadia didn't know why, but she did know that the Gryffindor was under the spotlight for her "bad behavior". Nadia didn't necessarily mind the bad reputation the girl acquired, but she didn't enjoy being talked down to. "You might want to try being kinder to a person you're sharing a table with." She quipped back. "Especially considering you chose to sit here. If you're looking for tutoring, I don't do that anymore. And any additional study help will come at a cost..." She warned the girl, picking up the book she'd been perusing moments before.
Okay, so, her Saturday at the perfect library wasn't going to be so perfect. She could deal with that. The book was still good, and that's what mattered. Her eyes began scanning the last few sentences she was reading, reclining softly in her chair as she began picking up interest in the last section she'd been reading. These ancient charms had serious applications in the modern era. It was a shock more witches and wizards weren't using them still!

Pulling her books out of her bag, Poppy started to set up shop. She had just gotten to placing her parchment when Nadia told her she should be nicer. "Why?" The word came out plain, as if Poppy could care less for the answer. Being nice got people nowhere. If you wanted to succeed, you have to pave your own road. You had to crush the opposition and leave no one standing. Being nice was nowhere in that line of thinking. Poppy opened her Charms book and turned to the appropriate page. A sigh escaped her as Nadia continued to speak. She peered up at the Slytherin with a scowl. "I might have been nicer, had you not greeted me so rudely. A hello would have sufficed, but I guess mannerisms only apply to those around you. A bit hypocritical, don't you think?" She rolled her eyes as Nadia mentioned tutoring. "Don't put yourself on such a pedestal, Wylde. I didn't come here seeking help. I came here to get my work done." She grabbed her quill and started writing her essay. Her handwriting was awful, but at least she was doing the work. She wasn't even going to estimate how long it would take her to accomplish the task of getting all the work done.

A shocked smile spread on Nadia's face as she scoffed at Poppy. Was the fourth year serious? Nadia hadn't been rude. She'd simply asked what the Lion wanted before Poppy so defiantly plopped herself down at the same table. "There's at least four tables opened besides this one. I asked what you wanted because studying doesn't need company. Now unless you wanted to poke a snake, you chose to sat at this table while all of those are opened. The only hypocrite here is you, Miss. Poppy Carmichael." Nadia retorted back, trying to focus on her book. Merlin, these younger kids were getting on her last nerve. Even though Poppy wasn't that much younger than she, it felt like the Gryffindor acted like a second year, lashing out because Mummy and Daddy sent her away to boarding school. Tch. Poppy was lucky to be at Hogwarts, especially with the record she was starting to acquire. "I will always put myself on a pedestal, Poppy." Nadia shot the red head a tight lipped smile. "I am top of my year-- probably top of the school, if I was older. People seek me out because I am gifted with a quill and I excel in almost all subjects. It wouldn't be a shock, after all the trouble you've been having, if you had enough humility to ask for help. But I guess you don't. This school needs one less slacker-- I'll send you flowers when you get expelled or you just fail out." Nadia shot at Poppy, scooting her chair an inch further from the impudent red haired girl. Still, Nadia couldn't help but glance up at Nadia's scribbling. It was an essay, though Merlin knew who could read that. Nadia couldn't help but snort out a laugh, keeping her opinions to herself but the judgement was radiating off of her like heat from a fire.

"And I said I don't care," Poppy responded when Nadia pointed out the different tables. "I saw this one, and so I intend to sit here and do my homework. It was technically unoccupied while you were harassing my housemates." Poppy had seen, but she didn't care. It wasn't her job to protect all of Gryffindor. In fact, a majority of her housemates didn't care for her. She didn't really bother with them too much, but it didn't mean they were free from her torment. She continued with her essay despite Nadia's insistence on being a pest. The girl must really want her table to herself. An idea came to Poppy and she smiled. Lifting her head, she pointed at the table. "Wylde, if you're so pressed about the table, why not carve your name into," she asked. "Take ownership." She tapped the wood lightly. "If not, shut up and finish reading your book, yeah?"
She dipped her quill back into the ink as Nadia started going on about how she was the queen of good marks. "Are you done talking," she asked with sickening politeness. "I mean, if you were so bright, you'd be a Ravenclaw. Instead, you're a snake. Which is fitting, considering you feel the need to rattle off unimportant information about yourself." She kept her smile, even when the other girl laughed at her. Poppy glanced at the inkwell and pictured throwing it all over Nadia's face. She was holding back for Parker's sake.

Was ever student and professor at Hogwarts just trying to irritate Nadia more and more? It was like she didn't know a single person that didn't have a horrible side to them. Nadia suspected Poppy might have more than just one horrible side, but if Nadia mentioned that, Poppy might jump across the table and choke her out or something. She was a feral animal, as far as Nadia was concerned. "Why must you always do things to the extreme? It's like there's some part of you that just craves outlandishness... Your parents must not have given you much as a child-- and now, you're lashing out at everyone and everything that gives you any kind of resistance. It's quite pathetic." Nadia commented, unable to keep her mouth shut when provoked. She hated it, picking fights like this one, with people as lowly as Poppy Carmichael-- but it was Poppy that started disrespecting her the minute they began speaking. Nadia took it upon herself to finish it.
"Being a snake is nothing to be ashamed of. Slytherin's are adaptive, intelligent and cunning. Gryffindor's however... Oh, well, you've certainly got your brave stupidity but I'm not sure you even got that Poppy. It's a wonder the Sorting Hat didn't spit you right back to the muggle world-- That's what I would've done. Someone as unruly and idiotic as you has no place at Hogwarts. Did you even come here to study or did you just want to get into a fight so someone would pay attention to you for once in your life?" She said all of this while barely looking up from her book. "Don't feel too provoked, I'm not really feeling up to explaining to whatever professor would intervene that you started hitting me without cause. Maybe you can find the words to articulate those feelings? Unless I can find Laurie Greer for you to harass... You'd like that, wouldn't you? Then maybe, just maybe, you can really show everyone you're not someone to be messed with." Nadia huffed out a condescending laugh, shaking her head as she continued to read her book.
