Character History:
Bax comes from a family of money, old, old money, generation after generation profiting from the previous and more fully expanding their overall funds via buying up land, properties and investing in all sorts of businesses. His own father had pushed himself further, opening charities to help people of all kinds, with several well establish, non profitable charities beneath his belt the man found himself Knighted, gaining a title to go along with all of his wealth. Bax, and his siblings, were born into wealth and lived lives of luxury.
Or so it would seem, every family has it's skeletons and every family has issues that they hide from the public eye. Perhaps Bax's problems weren't as dramatic as others, but they matter to him. He never knew the love of either of his parents, he existed purely to benefit them. To help with the picture perfect existence they tried to put out to the world, but he barely knew the pair. His mother and father were far too busy to have time to be parental figures, so he was raised by a continuous rotation of nanny's and tutors, a chef prepared meals for him, maid's took care of his laundry and living space. He was spoilt rotten really, but he was a damn lonely child.
Theo, his older brother, was the one considered the 'heir' to the family business, a child with an old soul who seemed to prefer being with the adults rather than spending any time whatsoever with his younger brother, so playtime with siblings wasn't on the table. When Charlie was old enough to engage in playtime the nervous kid wasn't exactly compatible to the type of thing that interested Bax. He wanted to ride his bike, climb trees, explore the shore lines to investigate caves when the tide receded, Charlie wanted to read books and watch movies. Ellie, his sister, preferred dolly's and tea party's. The others were just too young in general to be 'fun' for him, and it wasn't like he had friends at school. He never went to a damn school, he and his siblings were all home schooled and his family kept to themselves rather than socialise with 'pointless' play dates.
It shaped him into somebody who doesn't really socialise well, most people around him had been hired staff rather than anybody he had an emotional connection too and it left him somewhat cold, distant. It boosted his confidence in the worst way, because he knew that those around him could be gone with as little as a well worded complaint to his father, or his father's PA. A child shouldn't have that level of 'power' over other's lives at a young age. It got a little worse when he was accepted into Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, at first he'd believed it to be some elaborate joke until his mother informed him of a world he never knew existed.
Hogwarts was different. For the first time he was surrounded by other children, both his own age and older than him and his first year was a difficult one filled with a lot of adjustments. Being rather brutally honest and abrupt with his opinions he didn't make friends very easily. But so bloody what, he didn't need anybody anyway, he excelled all on his own, learning magic with as much enthusiasm as any witch or wizard who came from an apparent muggle family and knew nothing of it previously.
First year came and went, second year was very much the same thing, he kept to himself and people avoided him for the most part. Some called him a teacher's pet because he actively keeps on top of his schoolwork and isn't shy to answer questions in class. He wasn't one to be bullied though, nor mocked behind his back, the boy quickly proved that although he was a little antisocial due to his own choices he was more than capable of cruelly dragging somebody through the mud with his words. He could be vicious when he wants to be and he has no shame in that, he knows what he wants, when he wants it, and how he wants things. If he doesn't get his own way with his own peers they'll be quick to hear about it.
Third year passed by, he got in a few problems with arguing with other students, for ignoring prefect instructions and breaking general rules like curfew's or trespassing in places he shouldn't be. The more magic he learned the more self confident in himself he became. He's a kid who seeks approval from adults, not from other students, it's the way his life has always been and it seemed like it wasn't changing anytime soon. He had a few people he could talk too who didn't take him too seriously, but for the most part he was alone.
Forth year he was put forward for the quidditch team, something he wasn't particularly interested in but one of his professor's was encouraging it in an attempt to get him to socialise a little bit more. With a heavy heart he'd gone ahead and attended try-outs and became a reserve Beater for the Gryffindor team. Reserve suited him just fine, he was content enough with that and he found that beating balls towards opponents was actually quite cathartic as well, at least on the times he got to play. People started to realise he existed, pulling him into more conversations and situations that he wasn't exactly happy with but at least he was one of them now rather than the quietly weird, openly rude outsider. Go him. Perhaps it helped that his younger brother and sister were also in the school and he kind of wanted to make a good impression on the younger siblings despite his own personal preferences.
He's entered fifth year now and all that's really changed is his position on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, rather than a Beater he was offered the position off of the reserve team and onto the primary team as a Seeker, which he took. It pleased him actually, made him a lot happier than he'd admit. Being recognised for his skills is something that makes him pretty damn happy.
