Jazmina applied a thin layer of lip gloss before she pulled back from the mirror and turned on Moaning Myrtle. "Would you shut your trap already? You're worse than Peeves on a good day." She shot a nasty glare at the ghost. Myrtle had been droning on and on about how it was unfair that she couldn't enjoy a party because she was dead. "Just because you're miserable doesn't mean you have to ruin our night before it even begins." Several girls had gathered in this particular bathroom to prepare for a get together tonight. Jazzy's brothers, Campion and Finnick were hosting, on account of it being the weekend, and everyone needed to just relax. They were to meet on the Quidditch Pitch since neither of the Evans siblings cared much for being near the lake after dark. The boys had acquired some goods from their older brother Benjamin, so as long as everyone kept their mouths shut, it would be a good time. Music. Food. Beverages. And of course, a party wasn't a party without people. The blond turned back to the mirror but paused as she viewed the girl's reflection beside her. "I've got a red that would look gorgeous on you," she offered.

Word in the corridors was that the Evans brothers were throwing a party, on the Quidditch pitch of all places, and Rose was not going to miss an opportunity to be seen at a party. And she wasn’t going to miss out on being seen with her boyfriend. Many were shocked to see Finch and Rose holding hands as they walked through the halls together, astonished that Rose Kelly tied herself down to someone. It wasn’t like Finch had ever dated before, either. It was all so new to both of them and they were very much still in the honeymoon phase. Read: nauseating PDA. Good thing that Rose just didn’t give a shit about what other people thought.
Anyway, she was excited for the party. Naomi dragged her along to Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom to get ready because everyone else was going to. Rose thought that was the stupidest place to get ready, but she followed her friend along anyway. The weather had been strangely warmer the past few days and she was glad to have an excuse to wear one of her new outfits. Rose was fixing up her makeup in the mirror when the girl next to her said something to her. “Hmm?” she hummed, turning her head to look at the blonde beside her. It was Jazzy Evans and she was offering a lipstick. “Oh, that’d be great. I seem to have lost my favorite red.” Rose looked the girl over for a moment, a soft smile playing on her lips. “You look pretty.”

Jazzy smiled with delight as Rose agreed to accept her offer. She dug into her bag and pulled out the red lipstick, passing it over to the older girl. Jazmina had the modesty to look flattered at the compliment. "Thank you. It's nice to get dolled up," she told her as she started to apply her mascara. "It's a shame I've no one to show off to," she said lightly. Jazzy didn't need a reason to get dressed up, but it felt like a waste to put on her best for the general population. A party was the perfect time to do a little extra. Her brothers weren't going to invite nobodies, so maybe she could catch someone's eye. Not that her brother would allow anyone to so much as glance in her direction. They were so overprotective that it was almost suffocating. She almost huffed at the thought. Campion and Finnick were always there when she needed them, but she'd have to get creative if she wanted to ditch their watchful gazes. Jazzy paused and looked at Rose. "You're gorgeous though, and if you'll excuse my forwardness, Goldswithe isn't half bad himself. You two will be the 'it' couple of the night."

A warm smile spread across her lips when she saw Jazzy’s delighted smile. Rose accepted the lipstick with her thanks and uncapped it, inspecting the warm red color before leaning in to apply it. She was right; it did look gorgeous on her. With a satisfied smile, Rose handed the lipstick back and went back to applying her eyeliner. The redhead let out an amused hum when she said mentioned having no one to show off to. “I imagine it’s hard to get a date with your brothers hovering,” she said sympathetically. “To be honest, any guy who is scared away by them isn’t worth your time.” She looked over with a small smile. “Witches like us don’t need such squeamish boys in our lives.”
Jazzy went on to compliment both her and Finch and Rose couldn’t help the bright smile that played on her lips. “Thanks,” she said genuinely. Rose was anything but humble, but hearing others tell her how hot she is was always a welcome experience. And of course, she felt a sense of pride to be with someone as handsome as Finch. “If you had told me a few months ago that I’d be actually dating someone and be happy about it, I’d have called you crazy.” The young witch let out a small laugh. “Some people are just worth it.” Rose smiled as she put the finishing touches to her makeup and leaned back to inspect her appearance, her head turning from side to side.

Jazmina would have offered to let Rose keep the lipstick, but she quite liked the color and was not ready to part ways with it just yet. She still had a few outfits that worked well with the red. If there was an off chance that she needed it, she didn't want to track the Gryffindor down and ask for it back. That would never happen anyway. Jazmina would much rather hold onto the little tub of lipstick and never use it again than need it and not have it. If Rose really liked it, Jazzy would share the name of the store she'd bought it from. Call her selfish, but a girl had to be prepared. She paused for a moment when Rose mentioned her brothers. "Hard is an understatement. It's near impossible to escape them." the only peace she got was on the Pitch. Neither Finnick, nor Campion cared for Quidditch. They preferred to watch from he stands and cheer her on. Rose did give her some food for thought regarding the boys who were too afraid to face her brothers. Jazzy had never considered it that way. Rose Kelly was a clever girl. Jazzy looked at her reflection in the mirror. "You're absolutely right. Thank you." The Slytherin fifth year was listened as Rose spoke about her relationship unfolding. "What changed," Jaz asked. She was afraid to pry into the business of the Gryffindor. She wanted to know the secret to picking someone who was 'worth it' as Rose had spoken. After all, everyone knew that Rose Kelly didn't date, and yet somehow Finch Goldswithe had managed to turn the tide where all others had failed. Maybe she ought to ask him his secrets too.

She couldn't quite imagine having two older brothers breathing down her neck at all times. It must be suffocating. And honestly, it's not like they're innocent either. Rose can remember a time when she felt their lips on her. Just because she was their younger sister didn't mean she couldn't have a little fun. "I can always tell them to get lost tonight," she offered with a shrug. Jazzy deserved a night away from all that nonsense. There were plenty of people coming to the party and who knows? Maybe she'll get lucky and find someone nice to snog. A small, satisfied smile touched her lips at the girl's thanks. Good, she was figuring out her worth.
Rose faltered a bit at her question, pausing in front of the mirror as she tried to fix a spot of smudged eyeshadow. The girl pondered the answer for a moment before she resumed her task. "Honestly? He's just different," she said simply, moving her hands to her hair as she tried to get more volume in her curls. "I've never felt a connection like that and just hooking up wasn't enough." Her green gaze shifted to look at Jazzy, a thoughtful look about her face. "Even when it hurt, I still wanted him. I guess I just got lucky." Rose had been through most of the boys at Hogwarts, but she had never given more of herself. It was always a quick snog in a closet or under the bleachers, never anything more than that. But with Finch... well, it was the first time she ever wanted more. "Most of the guys at Hogwarts suck. They whine too much or drone on and on about useless shit, but there are a few good ones out there. It's just a matter of sifting through the bullshit to find them."

She wasn't hard pressed when the offer was placed on the table. If Rose was willing to tell her brothers to fly a kite tonight, she'd be forever grateful. The problem was, Jazzy didn't want to owe the other girl. Sure, Jazmina Evans always paid her debts, but still, she could get the job done on her own. Finnick would be busy snogging Thalia Hoskins tonight anyway. The two of them were practically inseparable when given the chance. How her brother managed to end up with a Hufflepuff was beyond her, but more power to him. So long as he was kept busy. It was Campion she was concerned about. He had no one to keep him preoccupied. It wasn't for lack of trying either. It was by choice. She was convinced he did it to make sure someone was always watching her.
"Would you prefer monetary exchange, or shall I owe you a favor in the future," Jazzy asked. She had no issue with being straight to the point. She preferred to be upfront. It helped cut out the small talk and miscommunication. "Campion's the real the problem, but I wouldn't put it past Finnick to break away from Hoskins long enough to chase someone off." She rolled her eyes. If she could just have one night to be free. Envy was an awful thing, but the way Rose talked about Finch made it difficult not to be. She longed to know that feeling.
What was it like to meet the man of your dreams? The one person that stood out among all those faces in the crowd? "He sounds like Prince Charming," she mused. "You really are lucky, Rose." She stifled a laugh as Rose spoke of how the guys complained too much about everything and nothing. "Great, now I have to find a needle in the haystack," she sighed. "I guess it'll be worth it in the end." She had once kissed a boy in the Trophy Room. She'd been in her third year. Elijah Howard was not a good kisser. He'd licked his lips until they'd been covered in slob, and Jazzy had almost sworn off boys that very moment. Two weeks later Campion found out and Elijah spent two days in the hospital wing with boils the size of his fist. He and Jazzy never spoke again. She was thankful.

Rose just laughed when Jazzy asked about an exchange, thinking the snake was joking. But it was clear that she was not and Rose shook her head with a smile. “You let me borrow your lipstick,” she said, pointing at her with her blush brush. “I’d say that makes us even.” The blonde mentioned that Campion would be the one to watch for and she huffed in response. Rose wasn’t planning on being subtle; she’d just tell the guy to sod off and leave his sister alone. She’d fight him if it came to it, but honestly Rose had had her fill of fights lately. Maybe she’ll have to get creative. She would think on it. “I can handle them. You can just focus on having fun.”
A bright smile spread across her face as Jazzy compared Finch to Prince Charming. That was a pretty accurate description. No one had ever treated her like a lady before, no one courted her. But Finch had a way of making her feel like a queen and she loved every second of it. Rose smiled at Jazmina. “He could just fall into your lap if you’re lucky.” That’s how it happened with Finch. “It will be worth it in the end, but it’s not like you can’t have fun while you’re looking. The guys may be dumb, but many of them are pretty good kissers.”

Jazmina pondered the Gryffindor's words for a brief moment. Who was she to argue if Rose considered the debt paid in advance? Her eyes shined with appreciation and the youngest of the two girls nodded with understanding. Had it been her, she'd have required something more useful. A borrowed lipstick held little importance to her. Money was often obsolete as well. Her parents sent her an allowance quite often. She was a star pupil and never ran into trouble. For her, knowledge was the power she often sought out, but Rose was different. She didn't know her well enough to determine what she should have requested as payment. All she knew was that the other girl liked to snog people and play Quidditch. Another thought occurred to her. Maybe she'd give Rose a gift, as a token of her appreciation if things went well. It seemed only fair. She brightened just a smidge more at the mention of being able to handle both of her brothers. Was this what it was like to have a big sister?
If someone just fell into her lap, she'd be amazed. Jazzy had never considered herself so lucky. She worked for everything she wanted, and even that felt like a struggle. She pondered the idea for merely half a second and rolled her eyes in response. It was hard not to. "I've only kissed one guy, and it was awful," she said with a frown. "I don't even know what a proper kiss is. I imagine he's not supposed to lick his lips a thousand times beforehand." She gave a visible shudder. "Maybe I can try again tonight." She didn't sound hopeful.

Honestly, Rose was just doing the girl a favor. She wasn't the kind of person who expected payment for her efforts. No one would ever guess that Rosaline Kelly was actually generous, but she was. Maybe she's not out here handing out money like candy, but she'd always help a friend in need out in whatever way she could. She didn't know Jazmina well enough to consider her a friend, but she was growing fond of the Slytherin and she could see that she desperately needed to break free from her older brothers. Dealing with a couple overbearing siblings seemed like the least she could do to help the girl have a good time tonight.
She chuckled a bit as Jazzy recalled her first kiss while she leaned in to apply more mascara to her lashes. The redhead leaned back and inspected her appearance, grimacing when she mentioned the boy licking his lips. Rose looked over at her with a sympathetic look. "Lemme guess, Elijah Howard?" She tutted a little and sighed. "I've had the misfortune to snog him, too. That was not an experience I wanted to repeat." Her lips turned upward into a slightly amused smile. "You can certainly try. I can give you pointers and point you in the direction of some exceptional kissers. Wash is good and typically always down for a snog. Callum's not bad, either. He can be a bit clingy, but the boy would be lucky to snog you."

Jazmina pulled a face when Rose mentioned Elijah. "You remember that too." It was more of a statement than a question. She pulled at a strand of her hair. She couldn't say she'd been upset with Campion when he'd cursed Elijah. The kiss had been the worst experience of her life. She thought she might never kiss a boy again. Then she'd gotten a lecture from both Campion and Finnick. She'd sat there with her legs crossed, her hands resting in her lap as they told her that kissing wasn't allowed. She had apologized for her actions, then she'd made a mental note to kiss whoever she wanted. The problem was, she hadn't exactly felt inclined to kiss anyone. Jazzy felt better knowing she hadn't been the only one to happen upon the lips of Elijah. Now someone else could share her disgust and her shame. She also had a little thought in her head of hoping to kiss someone who hadn't kissed Rose. Still, she could use some practice. She considered the two options. "You think either of them will show up tonight," she asked. "If so, I could use some pointers if you have the time."

If Elijah had been her first kiss, then she could see how she might not be eager to try that again. Plus, Rose had heard that Campion had cursed the boy and sent him to the Hospital Wing, but she hadn't known what that was all about. Now it was starting to make sense. Damn, they really were overprotective, weren't they? That didn't seem fair to Rose. They could snog who they like but their sister couldn't? Damn hypocrites. She'd be sure to tell them as much tonight when she stood between them.
A thoughtful hum fell out of her at Jazzy's question. "Probably," she answered with a small shrug. "Callum definitely will - he never misses an opportunity to be seen at a party. And Wash may or may not, I'm not sure I haven't talked to him about it." Rose turned her head to look at the blonde, a small smile pulling at her lips. "I'd be happy to. Especially since you've only snogged Elijah. That boy wouldn't know a proper kiss if it hit him in the face." She let out a soft chuckle and shook her head before turning her body to completely face the girl, her hip leaning into the sink. "It's less about tongue and more about the movement of your lips. If you do use tongue, make sure you're not putting the whole thing in there. Just kind of sweep in and out and sort of tangle yours with his. Getting handsy also helps. I like to bury my hands in Finch's hair, then move to his face, his shoulders, and back again." Rose paused to make sure it was sinking in. Snogging was kind of an art that she had perfected over the years. "Start slow and purposeful, then work your way up from there. Some kisses are better slow and some are meant to be fast, it just depends on how you're feeling at the moment."
