The icy wind was whipping around him, his nose and fingers were numb, but he was determined to strengthen his swing. Stella was gone and this new Captain was brutal. Nathaniel was kind of hoping he'd be replaced with a new, better Captain. But as it was... Professor Grady allowed him to get a bludger out for some practice and Nate's blue gaze was focused on the ball, watching as it jerked to the left and the right before flying straight for him. He rolled his shoulder and twirled his beater bat in his hand, lining up the shot. It got closer and he swung back before giving it a solid hit. The bludger went soaring toward the opposite end, sailing straight through the tallest goalpost. "Yes," he celebrated his success, determining that his practice was complete. Nate flew down to the ground and pulled out his wand. With a flick of his wrist, he called out the incantation and summoned the bludger to him. He caught the ball, it thrashing wildly against his chest, and he forced it back into the trunk. Nathaniel strapped it in and shut the trunk just as he heard some crunching footsteps to his right. He turned. "Oh, it's just you," he said. "Guess you need all the practice you can get after we destroyed you guys last game." He straightened up and smirked at Levy. "Or is that too soon?"

If she was being honest, she was stressed. Shoshie was just busy. Between studying for her OWLs, prefect duties, and her spot on the quidditch team, she was about up to her neck in things to do. She liked being busy... Maybe not this busy, but it was still better than being bored.
Even so, it struck her during a tired evening at dinner that she couldn't remember the last time she'd ridden a broom for leisure, and tired though she was, she resolved to head down to the pitch before curfew just to fly without running a drill. It had fully slipped her mind that there might be anyone else there to fly or to practice. "Ohh, and here I was about to compliment your technique, twenty-three," she tossed back, mock offended. "You know you don't have to make that face, though, when you swing the bat." She hadn't seen if he had a face, making things up as she sat sidesaddle on her broom and allowed herself to drift ever so slowly in the start of a circle around Nathaniel James. "That's not part of it."

Nate would never admit it, but Shoshie was pretty good. On more than one occasion, she's dodged a bludger he sent her way and rather effortlessly, too. Didn't mean he was going to go easy on her. Naomi understood their rivalry, but Nate knew she'd give him the what for if he was ever mean to the snake. Honestly, that wasn't his style anyway. Nathaniel didn't tolerate any form of bullying and often put a stop to it if he ever caught wind of it.
The boy let out a sharp laugh, his head shaking as he shouldered his broom. "You're one to talk. You do know you look like you're taking a massive shit when you're playing?" He was teasing her, but she did get the most serious look on her face when she had the Quaffle. "Or is that a tactic? To scare the Keeper into letting you score?"

Shoshie scoffed out a laugh, jaw dropping at the offense. "Rudearse. What've you got the whole kit out for, you're not getting enough practice in? Showing your caaards," she sang, reaching up to adjust her ponytail. "I'll be sure to report back to the team. Ravenclaws are slacking after that win." She was comfortable on her broom, no hurry to her glide through the air as she watched the older boy. She'd get some height once he was gone, but for now it was enough to hover near this scene the two of them shared. She felt lighter already, the stress lifting from her shoulders despite the weather out here tightening them back up again. Eh. Maybe she wouldn't get that much height later, for the sake of staying warm. It really was biting out here.

A sly smirk touched his lips as he watched her, shrugging his shoulders. "Just telling it like I see it," he said with a laugh. He raised a brow at her and kicked the trunk with his foot. "We didn't become two time champions by sitting on our arse. What are you doing out here, then?"

A stiff breeze sent her a little rigid. In quidditch uniform, she could take it, but not the robes she had on at the moment. It hadn't been half so cold the rest of the day. The stands around him were likely taking the brunt of it, too, protecting them, but she wasn't going to go inside after having made her mind up to fly. "What, besides freezing my bits off?" Shoshana willed warmth into her limbs, easing again and trying to embrace the temperature rather than cower from it. "Can't a girl go on an evening broom ride?"

He felt invigorated after his training, the excitement and exercise keeping him quite comfortable, especially protected by the stands. Nathaniel grinned at her and shrugged. "Hey, nothing wrong with an evening ride." Suddenly, he had an idea. Picking up his broom again, he said, "Wanna dodge bludgers instead?" She was quick on a broom and it would provide a nice challenge to them both. "I won't aim directly at you."
