Character History: Born to Lauren and Hunter McKenna, Ralph took his first breath moments before his mother took her last. It was a bittersweet day for Hunter McKenna. He lost a wife and gained a son. It didn't deter him from carrying out his fatherly duties of raising his first and only son. As an Auror he spent long hours at work, forever grateful for the kindness the Sagewater family extended to him when it came to Ralph's care.
For six years Ralph had his father in his life, until tragedy struck, and Hunter was killed in an isolated incident on duty. To Ralph, he would always be a hero. There was no argument about his living arrangements. Hunter McKenna and Ozymandias Sagewater were practically brothers and had vowed to take care of the others' family had something unexpected occurred.
There was little adjustment needed. Ralph had spent plenty of time in the Sagewater household. Elmyra Sagewtaer had been the mother he'd never had, and while Liam was several years older, they formed the same brotherly bond as their fathers. As for Oz, he could never truly replace Hunter as a father, but he was a close second and Ralph would have it no other way.
The next few years flew by before Ralph could say Hogwarts. He'd spent his days eager to join brother at the grand castle. In the meantime, he spent his days rummaging through Liam's things, patiently awaiting letters from said brother, helping his mother with chores, listening to tales his father had to share after a long day's work, and best of all getting into any and everything that he could.
Early childhood was about as normal as it could get for the young wizard. When his letter finally came, he was beyond ecstatic. Nothing could put a damper on his excitement unless he was being placed in a separate house from Liam!
Ralph could have vomited as the Sorting Hat bellowed "HUFFLEPUFF!" The color had drained from his face so quickly that his head had began to swim, but when he spotted his brother in the crowd, that panic subsided. The Ravenclaw looked proud, and that was all he could ask for.
First year was confusing to say the least. He found himself lost on more than one occasion, often clinging to Liam at every chance he had, and while he was carefree and happy at home, the masses terrified him. Ralph's newfound shyness was hindering his ability to branch out.
He found comfort Gobstones, the Slugs and Bugs Club (which he accidentally stumbled upon one evening), and his favorite of all, his pet rat Basil. Between those three, he was able to survive first year.
Second year has started and he's doing better in the social department. With Basil at his side, Liam serving as his protector, and plenty of activities to focus on outside of school work, he's doing pretty well for himself.

Role Playing Sample: "Look Basil, this is the year we make it into the Rat Race Club," Ralph told the black rat that was gnawing unbothered on a piece of cheese. "Last year you were a little distracted, but with a bit of training, we'll be ready." Ralph smiled big, a determined expression on his face. He was hardly competitive, but he was looking forward to trying something new this year. His mom had said the best way to make friends was to get involved. "Just dive right in," he spoke, repeating the same words she had before he boarded the Hogwarts Express this year. He snapped his fingers and Basil cocked his head to the left. "Focus," Ralphie begged. He picked the rat up. "You just have to make it into the top three. Then we'll be one of the cool kids." He placed the rat back on the floor and stood up, dusting off his trousers. "Besides, it'll give me something to write home about."
Giving a nice big stretch he picked up his bag and swung it over his shoulder. "First thing first, we need more cheese." He had already started constructing a maze out of discarded pieces of wood he'd gotten from the Greenhouse; with permission from the Herbology Professor, of course. Ralph might have gotten into a lot of things, but he was far from being a troublemaker. He wasn't paying much attention to the way forward as he called for Basil to follow, only to hit someone with the door leading out of the group study room. Ralph's expression faltered. He wasn't sure if he should be concerned or panicked. Maybe both. He swallowed, pulled the door back from whoever he'd hit, and peeked his head around the corner. "...please don't be important," he whispered under his breath before loudly asking, "Are you okay?"
